It is with great sadness that we must report the loss of our dear friend Tony Blankley. Tony passed away Saturday after a long battle with stomach cancer.
Tony was a longtime friend of our parent organization the Media Research Center, serving as one of MRC's DisHonors Awards judges in the past few years. Tony's syndicated column was also published on NewsBusters.
Tony was a veteran warrior for the conservative movement having served as a speechwriter for the Reagan administration, as press secretary to Speaker Newt Gingrich, as editorial page editor for the Washington Times from 2002-2007, and as a visiting senior fellow at the Heritage Foundation.
He will be greatly missed by us and by countless others in the conservative movement. Our thoughts and prayers are with Tony's family and friends.

God Bless and may his soul rest in peace.
One of my absolute favorites. I had noticed him around less and less but had no idea he was sick. RIP

RIP
I always enjoyed watching Tony on the McLaughlin Group.
And knowing he is a devout Christian...welcome home Godly man! Welcome to eternal Goodness!
Great sadness...reminds of when lost Michael Kelly in early 2003. Kelly was the first American journalist killed in the Iraq war in a Humvee accident. Working for the Atlantic Monthly, Kelly had also served as editor of the New Republic and National Journal.
Two members of the Conservative Hall of Distinction.
You’re right - ‘class act’ is the term. Prayers for his family and loved ones... he’ll be missed.
Sorry to hear this. Tony was a very interesting guy, and he really had a way with words.
RIP, Tony.
This man will be sorely missed. He was a voice for good, may he RIP.
Very sad news. May God rest his soul, and comfort his loved ones.
Brilliant, articulate, feisty - conservatives have lost a great friend.....
His bio, which I looked up, said he started his career as a child actor in US film and TV. Lots of shows we all watched. Bogart movie, etc.
I just found out. Searched for a post. Great to have FReeper friends that will miss him too.
