It is with great sadness that we must report the loss of our dear friend Tony Blankley. Tony passed away Saturday after a long battle with stomach cancer.
Tony was a longtime friend of our parent organization the Media Research Center, serving as one of MRC's DisHonors Awards judges in the past few years. Tony's syndicated column was also published on NewsBusters.
Tony was a veteran warrior for the conservative movement having served as a speechwriter for the Reagan administration, as press secretary to Speaker Newt Gingrich, as editorial page editor for the Washington Times from 2002-2007, and as a visiting senior fellow at the Heritage Foundation.
He will be greatly missed by us and by countless others in the conservative movement. Our thoughts and prayers are with Tony's family and friends.

Tony Blankley was a keen analyst and a wonderful writer. On top of this, he promoted Conservatism from deep wellsprings. He will indeed be missed.
A good man. May he rest in peace.
I am saddened to hear this. I always liked him. He was one of my favorites. Gene Bartow, who was a basketball coach at Memphis State, UCLA and Birmingham, also died this week of stomach cancer. He was another one that I thought of so highly. RIP
Very stunning and sad news! RIP...
Very sad! I know I saw him not long ago on tv. (probably Fox) Prayers sent up for him and his loved ones.
RIP
I started worrying about Tony last year when it was apparent that he’d lost a lot of weight in a brief period of time. That’s never a good sign.
He was indeed one of the good guys, always a civilized voice in the debate and a very insightful analyst of the political scene. He leaves a void. RIP.
Rest in Peace, Tony.
Newt will win this for you, my friend.
Did not see the earlier notice. An insightful guy. I always listened when he spoke.
Tony was definitely one of the good guys.
RIP
I, too, am shocked and saddened by this news.
Tony Blankley was one of the best spokesmen for conservatism.
He will be sorely missed.
RIP Tony!!
Oh NO! I loved to watch Tony...wherever he appeared, I’d be glued to the TV. So sad, and so sorry to hear the news. Prayers to his family, and may he rest with angels.
Thanks for posting. WHOA! Condolences to Tony Blankley’s family and friends. R.I.P., sir.
Tony. RIP. :(
RIP Mr. Blankley.
Tony was always awesome, and in the glory years with his friend and mentor, Newt, he was great fun and incisive on issues.
It was a head’s up moment for us conservatives when Tony spoke. Shocked by the news. My prayers for Tony.
