Actually it ended later because I was in the lottery for one year. I didn't realize I was older then Santorum. That's depressing!
and just like when Cain started up in the polls... Romney’s numbers are going up as Santorum’s rise.
Only twice this season did Romney’s numbers actually go down when others were going up ... when Perry was rising and when Gingrich was rising.
Santorum is no threat to Romney, and everyone but the few blinded Santhukabee supporters know it. In fact the rise of Santhukabee was the best thing that ever happened to Romney this election cycle. And if he doesn’t implode before South Carolina, Romney is going to win the nomination in a cakewalk.
I think that was said by Jake Tapper, who is the closest thing to a right-of-center commentator they have. I noticed the others were uncomfortable with that remark at first because it seemed like a bash on Romney, but I think they settled down when they realized it was more of a bash on Paul.
Paul and Huntsman (and Perry) are in the race to BOOST Romney, not bleed him down.
The Fred Thompson Fan Dance was all about splitting the conservative vote.
“Rick Perry cannot win the GOP nomination and his only function at this point is to funnel votes away from Santorum and Gingrich and be a stalking horse for Romney.”
We should wait until Santorum comes off his surge to see who is best between Santorum and Perry. I still think Perry is the better candidate. I’m all in favor of Newt but I think the second choice should be there in case Newt implodes.

But Perry made a very public statement saying that he was thinking of dropping from the race.
I wonder what back channel offers he received to stay in.
I don’t see how - this is Santorum’s best showing.
He’s never topped 20 percent yet in South Carolina.
Perry’s support has collapsed and gone to Gingrich. Even so, Newt’s still well below where he was a few weeks ago.
Umm. Santorum was at 18 percent vs Newt’s 16.
Newt picked up Perry’s support. Santorum’s up to 19 percent now in SC, which is his best showing yet.

You didn’t get behind Santorum when Santorum was second. I sure as heck ain’t gettin behind Newt now that Newt is second.
If Newt was a winner, he would have kept his support from before. He didn’t, so he’s slid from 36 percent nationally to below Santorum.
Cain was ahead of Romney, before all the knives came out.
He was beating Mittens in Hawaii, PA, IL, etc.
If you wanted a conservative winner, he was your man. Now we are supposed to settle for Newt who’s getting 23 percent in South Carolina, where he was supposed to own the nomination?
Ridiculous.
Newt supporters need to wake up and realize, hey, your candidate LOST 13 percent. He’s done.
They would write off the man furiously, now that he’s a threat to Newt. Tell us to ignore the fact that Newt WAS at 35 percent here in South Carolina, and now is ‘winning’ with 23.
Santorum’s gone from 2 percent now to around 20, depending on the poll. +18 to Newts -12.
The shift is clear. All Newt had to do was keep his supporters from before. He couldn’t.
Now, we’re gonna get Romney/Obama thanks to the Newt supporters. Well done folks. 0 primary wins but at least he helped Romney out.

Cain did say this. He needs to do it about 5 to 7 days before SC votes. Later it is a waste, too early, the candidate he endorses gets attacked 4 Cain endorsing.
I suggest that those that want Cain to endorse Gingrich. Email Cain or call and ask for that endorsement.
IMHO - a DeMint endorsement is the one that would make a big difference in SC. Ask DeMint to endorse Gingrich.
