Nope. Dogs can be trained to safely ride in the back of pick-ups. If you are going to worry about dogs worry about all the ones hit daily cause no one keeps them up. I would still be aganist a generalized law that all dogs must be fenced etc. Depends on where you live. And I hate seeing dogs killed on the road. I counted 5 one day on a 30 mile strip of interstate. I have counted at least 10 deer. Not gonna stop that.
Deer being killed on the road has nothing to do with dogs riding in backs of trucks. Deer are wild animals. Dogs are owned pets. Humans have a responsibility to protect their dogs. That has nothing at all to do with Deer being killed on interstate highways. And for the record, approx. 4000 Deer are involved in auto accidents every DAY in this country. But that still has nothing to do with dogs in trucks, or Romney putting his dog on the roof of his car.
Much more room in the back of a pickup than in that little crate, and the dog can duck down well below the edge. I’d be claustrophobic in that little carrier.
I wouldn’t treat a cat that way, let alone a dog.
