When I first heard that Perry was getting into the race, I scratched my head and wondered why he and his backers hadn't stopped to consider that most Americans would reject yet ANOTHER Texas Governor for president so soon after Dubya.
Setting his less-than-conservative record (and reputation) aside, that was the first thing that caused me to believe that his presidential bid was a fool's errand.
That would be Bush 3.0, but your points are otherwise correct. And B3.0 would be the only candidate easier for Obama to beat than Romney. Perry lacks the skill to overcome the characterization. He should stay in TX where the brand is recognized as a good governor.
