I have that same thought every time I hear Rush wax enthusiastic about Perry.
In my view, Perry is a middle of the road moderate at best. There is just far too much in his record that goes against the conservative grain for me to grant him the designation of a true conservative.
The man can talk like one when he wants to (usually at election time), but I live in Texas, and have never seen this mythical "conservative" Perry I keep hearing about.

Yea, you’d think in a state that was 2/3s Republican (in both chambers of the legislature) that we’d have liberals screaming like crazy and be all over the national news.
But...we’re not. We just have a governor (and legislature) that simply does nothing and lets the cancer continue to grow (i.e., Illegal Immigration).
He would also find out that Jindal = conservative in Louisiana is another misnomer.
