Obama to businesses: Bring jobs home
ReutersBy Caren Bohan and Jeff Mason | Reuters 33 mins ago
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama kicked off an effort to encourage businesses to keep jobs at home instead of outsourcing them overseas, as he rolled out a new election-year theme on Saturday aimed at courting middle-class voters.
In his weekly radio and video address, Obama previewed an event he will hold next week with business executives to highlight the advantages of investing in the United States.
"We'll hear from business leaders who are bringing jobs back home and see how we can help other businesses follow their lead," Obama said.
The White House forum on "Insourcing American Jobs" will be held on Wednesday. Executives from more than a dozen companies will attend, including padlock maker Master Lock, furniture company Lincolnton Furniture, software application developer GalaxE Solutions, and chemicals company DuPont.
The emphasis on keeping U.S. jobs at home is in line with a populist economic message championed by Obama that could play well with union workers, whose support the Democratic president will need to win re-election in November.
The White House sees an increasing trend of companies deciding to "insource" jobs and invest in U.S.-based plants and factories, according to a White House official. It wants to encourage more businesses to follow that trend, the official said.

They will if they're allowed to have one. What has been the pattern over the past twenty years or so? They'll be allowed, barring a successful outsider candidate who just doesn't care if he or she goes against the grain.
I actually agree with what you're saying, for the most part. Hanging our hopes on the party that had almost as much or just as much to do with the current situation would look hopeless. That was the hope of the tea party. You might get the impression that it's over and done, given the near absence of any tea party efforts to press Republican candidates or to refute Democrat efforts of late.
Yeah! That’s the way to go.
First, let the labor parasites drain the blood of American manufacturers and run them out of the country or shut down.
Second, bring them back so the labor parasites can eat again, grow fat and then throw the carcases of the drained businesses on the side of the road.
Typical progressive thinking.
I know how you feel.
From November 2008 to November 2009 my business skidded down a 45 degree line down to 56% of the same period in 2007 to 2008. In December 2009 things started picking back up and we are flourishing once again, but no thanks to Obama, thanks to the oil industry in North and South Dakota and the Eagle Ford field in Texas.
I keep a chart on the wall in my office so that I can clearly see when (and what) Obama did to our economy and mine. It all began in November 2008 when he was elected. It was as if a light switch was turned off.
Our business is mainly for pipeline welders and they are more active that I’ve seen in many years. No thanks to Obama once again.

Business to Obama: Stop making it so expensive to do business in this country or shut up.
CAUTION GOP:
This is a message you do not want to get on the wrong side of.
Caution.
