SCROUNGERS will be targeted in a new crackdown after HALF refused to do unpaid jobs for a few weeks.
Ministers will launch the blitz after a pilot scheme to force hardcore jobless to do voluntary work exposed massive benefit fraud.
One in five jobless, 20 per cent, immediately stopped claiming benefits when ordered to do four weeks' voluntary work.
Another 30 per cent never turned up for community jobs and had their £67.50 weekly handouts axed.
Sources said the findings reveal a layer of claimants — like the layabouts in telly's Shameless headed by Frank Gallagher — with NO interest in working.
Now employment minister Chris Grayling is set to launch a £5million scheme to bring in compulsory community work for up to 50,000 people across the country.
JobCentre staff will be given the power to ORDER the most workshy to do unpaid jobs.
Ministers had hoped the pilot scheme would instil a work ethic in claimants. But an insider said: "Instead it demonstrates that there really is a hardcore who have no intention of working."
On Tuesday The Sun revealed stage two of David Cameron's anti-slacker push. Charities and firms will get cash if they can teach layabout families the skills to find work, or give them debt advice and parenting help.
Stage one saw "Shameless squads" sent to co-ordinate police patrols and job centre staff.

It will be interesting to see how this works out.
My gut reaction is it will be “too little, too late” and some judge will order the government to resume the payments.
You figure you get 4 people in a flat paid for by the council, each pulling in 67.50 pounds a week, that’s 14,000 pounds a year for that “household” with no rent, no utilities, and no insurance.
Why? Because they exist.

The English style permanent “Dole” entitlement is already being established here.
EEOC....... Who do you think works there and is living the good life off your tax dollars. For most Federal drones it is all about the paycheck. They could care less if the Federal agency they work in is helping or harming the private sector
The EEOC is a jobs program for liberals, for women and minorities and (need I say?) the legions of affirmative action hires that have clamped onto the Federal Gov’t like leeches. Probably the only white guys who can get a job there are gay...more affirmative action
Summary:
Many Federal agencies are really just union hiring halls for liberals and affirmative action babies. Many are enemies of the private sector that is forced to pay the taxes that fund these destructive dysfunctional agencies

Yep I saw it. Your brain dead affirmative action dominated (in DC for sure) Federal Gov’t hard at work. When you work for the Feds its all about getting that fat paycheck. I will admit that some have fantasies about actually helping the American people. But most are just sucking down your taxes
The government in the UK acts so surprised that what conservatives have been saying for ever is true. If you give people money then soon you will have a non working class and more and more people will want to go on the dole. Why work when your money is going to pay someone else NOT to work?
I would be that more than half of the OWS crowd would not take a job if offered.

We have GENERATIONS here in the US with the same goal in mind; their lots aren’t improving as funds dry up on their urban reservations.
