Well done, Rick Santorum!! A great come from behind surge and photo finish!! Had it in the bag until the last minute recount of one precinct (and surprise, surprise) just enough Romney votes were found to knock you out of first place by a whopping 8 votes. But a great victory for the base nonetheless!!
And it looks like there may be a few fewer faces in the race for New Hampshire, South Carolina and Florida. Can't see Huntsman or Bachmann hanging around much longer, and Perry may also bail. Ron Paul has had his best shot. His spam monkeys will have no further impact on the race as he fades to retirement.
That leaves one liberal and two conservatives. Now that some actual votes are in the bag, it'll become more and more obvious every day that the base is not buying Romney's 11th hour conversion to pro-life conservatism and his numbers will begin falling off. Even with all the millions he spent in Iowa and with the media and the establishment GOP carrying his water, he could barely muster up 25% of the vote. The conservative base and the tea party do not want the unreliable flip-flopping Romney and we are not going to allow him to be shoved down our throats!!
No doubt he'll do ok in New Hampshire where he's concentrating his efforts, but he'll have a bit more of a struggle in conservative South Carolina and Florida. And by then I'm pretty sure we will have decided which conservative to coalesce behind for the remainder of the race and then on to defeating Obama!!
NOBAMA, NO ROMNEY, NO WAY!!
Thank you all very much for making FR the number one conservative site on the net and for your continuing support!!
Rebellion is brewing!!

Hopefully, since Fox seems unwilling to can him and RS forgave him, some fellow pundits or guests appearing with him will point out to Skeletor the boost that his stupidity gave Santorum. He’ll deny it of course, but it will do me good to see his nose rubbed in it when he knows it’s true inside.

It's now clear that the Republican Elite establishment is no more honest than the Democrats when it comes to counting the votes.
Clearly, Santorum scared the crap out of 'em, and the State-Run-Media will rally to bash him, find "anonymous" sources to try to discredit him, etc.
I don't think Santorum can compete with Obama as well as Gingrich could in debates, but it remains to be seen how he responds. FUNDS are certainly his limiting factor right now.
I, at least, am glad the Paulinistas and Democrats who push the Ralien in the polls, and in the Caucuses, couldn't fabricate enough "support" for him to mess it up further (the Primary).

Glad you focused on that "surprise, surprise" just enough for Romney anomaly, last evening. Normally, whatever that may once have looked like, I wouldn't give this an extra thought - and being a Caucus count some stretching can be tolerated, but when I mull over close tallies we've witnessed in recent years one has to ask what the probabilities are of such narrow margins as this?
Game on.

Rebellion is brewing - indeed.
I so much wanted Michelle Bachmann to have a strong showing, but with Rick Santorum my 2nd choice Iowa results are darn good.
He is a true conservative (yes, with blemishes, but "we all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God") - and someone we can be proud to help pull across the finish line.
Thank you, Jim, for all you do for America.

I feel that the people made the right choice for Santorum, they voted and spoke. The talking heads at CNN were in shock that Santorum was ahead, thats an obvious clue that they are scared.
BTW another thing here, when Ricks wife went on stage for the support speech I was really feeling an emotion, she was real and a tribute for Rick, I immediately liked her and hopefully she will become the next First lady.
Overall no matter how close the votes Santorum won, being this close is too much of a threat for Romney.
