“Libertarians and conservative have many principles in common. Kindof like Catholics and Protestants. Yet they battle themselves to exhaustion even while the Marxists are destroying them. Very foolish. “
I really must disagree. Aside from some core economic principles, we are miles apart. I was a registered Libertarian at one point. I know whereof I speak.
Conservatism is a three legged stool. The three legs are conservative capitalistic fiscal policy; strong defense; and social issue conservatism.
Libertarians have one of the legs. So, good for them, but who wants to sit on a one-legged stool? Not me.
“Well I hope you find that perfect candidate to support before the Marxists send you off to some gulag.”
Just a tad hysterical, there. I don’t believe there is a perfect candidate. Do you believe Ron Paul is the perfect candidate? I suspect you do.
“There are plenty of other threads on which to bash libertarians or other imperfect conservatives.”
I feel free to criticize all candidates upon their positions and I’m not going to cower before your sense of being offended. Ron Paul is in the caucas as are the other candidates and I’ll criticize them politically as I see fit.
I've never been a libertarian and mostly I don't like libertarians. I think of them as idealist fools. But I like Marxists and progressives even less so I am stuck between a rock (Paul) and a hard spot (Newt, Romney, Perry, Santorum). At least Paul believes the republic should follow the Constitution so I am for now going with him. I don't vote here in Texas until Super Tuesday so I have time to maybe change my mind.
