US drops biggest-ever human trafficking case amid evidence doubts
Published: 22 July, 2012
The Justice Department spent millions of dollars on what is considered to be the largest human trafficking case in the US, only to dismiss it on the grounds that the government would be unable to prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt.
Federal prosecutors dropped the human trafficking case against the owner of a labor contracting company accused of exploiting hundreds of Thai farm workers.
The workers were subject to threats of deportation, had their passports taken away and were forced into debt by Global Horizons Inc. The company used these forced labor tactics to keep the workers in their service.
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) took the company to court for bringing the workers into the country on the promise of high-paying wages and temporary visas, only to be forced into vermin-ridden housing, denied the opportunity to leave the premises and subjected to harassment, including physical assault by their overseers, reported the United Press International.
Eight executives and business associates from the company, three of which pled guilty, were accused of misusing 600 Thai workers that were placed in farms throughout the US. Among the accused was the CEO of the company, Mordechai Orian.
In a press release on its website, the EEOC said workers were crammed into rooms in large numbers, in houses that were infested with rats and insects. Many did not have beds to sleep in, water to drink or enough food to eat.
In some cases, bodyguards were stationed around the farms so they could not escape, said EEOC attorney Anna Y. Park.
Even though the Justice Department spent millions of dollars on the case, it was dropped for lack of evidence to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. The three defendants who pleaded guilty will receive the opportunity to retract their pleas.
Just 11 months ago, federal prosecutors dropped similar accusations against owners of Hawaiis Aloun Farms, whose tactics were used to keep foreign workers in their service. The case was dropped after the lead prosecutor misstated the law in front of a grand jury. The same team of federal prosecutors handled the Global Horizons case.
Based on this further investigation, the government has determined that dismissal of this matter is in the interest of justice, reads the Global Horizons case dismissal order.
Even the companys attorney sounded surprised by what he calls a moral victory.
To dismiss a case with no intention of bringing it back as a new indictment is very unusual, he said. You never see the government just walk away from a case that they spent millions of dollars on.
While details about the dismissal are unknown, the criminal charges are being dropped before more than 50 farm workers were given the chance to testify in court. Civil litigation being conducted by the EEOC will likely continue, as the dismissal applies only to the criminal prosecution.
About four months ago I had seen one of these vehicles near my office in Cambridge MA, "Federal Police" on the doors. I was like WTF! Under what authority does the federal government have a "Police" force?
Anyway, they are apparently ordering riot gear. Probably nothing really....

Govt Grabbing Water Again: Sues New Mexico for Water Rights
Excerpt:
There is no better way to control The People than to control their water.
This is the work of Secretary of Interior Ken Salazar and Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack. In a letter to them from the Western Governors Association:
The ramifications of such legal position extend to the very heart of the Western states exclusive ownership and/or management and control of the groundwater resources within their respective boundaries.
Jay Stein, a lawyer representing the city of Las Cruces, who has filed as an intervener in the case, said the outcome of the hearing could potentially affect the citys water supply.
In the pending water rights adjudication in state district court, here in Las Cruces, the court has turned to the United States claims. Foremost among these is the issue of the United States claims to groundwater or to project water in the ground, as they have termed it.
These claims are not supported by any actual beneficial use of groundwater. Nor are they supported by state law which governs proceedings in the adjudication.
These water claims are unqualified but potentially could amount to hundreds of thousands of acre-feet per year.

ICNA Embraces Americas Favorite Salafi Preacher

The Investigative Project has published a new report on the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) titled ICNA Embraces Americas Favorite Salafi Preacher. The IP report begins:
IPT News August 1, 2012 Yasir Qadhi, billed by the New York Times as one of the most influential conservative clerics in American Islam, recently told one of the nations largest Islamic conferences that the Quran destroys American capitalism. Who amongst us would have predicted five years ago that this nation would despise and hate the very [economic] system that they used to claim was the reason for their success? he asked hundreds at a session of the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA)s national conference in late May. Now the system has been destroyed and demolished. Now 99 percent of America is saying Occupy Wall Street. This is a Pharonic society that we enjoy the pyramids, but you cannot enjoy pyramids without millions of slaves. And this is what this society has become, Qadhi said, repeating a classic Muslim metaphor for a society filled with corruption. Although his speech was intended to introduce a Somali charity worker, Qadhi used his time to call for converting America and radically altering its culture. Qadhis invitation to speak at the ICNA conference is puzzling, given the groups campaign to cast itself as a moderate religious group whose values are fully compatible with life in America, and given Qadhis record of espousing a diametrically opposed viewpoint. The conventions theme, Defending Religious Freedom, Understanding Shariah, mirrors a national public relations campaign ICNA is waging. Qadhi didnt limit his comments to attacking Americas economic system. He argued that had the Muslims engaged OWS protesters, they might have taken control of the movement and made huge gains in converts. Brothers and sisters, where were we at the height of the Occupy Wall Street movement to simply tell them, Oh fellow Americans, our lord has told us in the Quran that this system is not a good system, that this system will collapse? he said. This Ayah [Quranic verse] is the strongest Ayah criticizing the capitalist system as it exists in America. In five words, Allah demolishes this version of capitalism. His calls were greeted with shouts of Allahu Akbar and excitement by the crowd.
In April, The Investigative Project published a report on ICNA titled ICNAs Radicalization Continues. A post from March reported on a new ICNA educational campaign on Shariah (Islamic Law) . A post from August 2011 discussed a personal appeal for donations from the founder and former president of ICNA to support ICNAs Understanding Shariah campaign.
The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) is a less well-known part of the Muslim Brotherhood network in the U.S., generally thought to be closely tied to the Jamaat-e-Islami organization of Southeast Asia, itself known to be allied with the Muslim Brotherhood. ICNA is particularly close to the Muslim American Society, a part of the US Muslim Brotherhood and tied to the Egyptian organization, and the two organizations have been holding joint annual conventions for many years. Previous posts have discussed ICNA ad campaigns intended to present Islam to the U.S. public. The New York campaign drew national media attention when it was reported that Siraj Wahajj, an American Islamic convert associated with the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood and an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, was behind the New York campaign.

A few days ago I realized that we who are participating on the Agenda 21 thread have amassed an impressive amount of data and links which are quite important for the educating of anyone who is wondering what Agenda 21 is all about.
There is absolutely no question in the minds of any of our participants at this stage that Agenda 21 is real, and is NOT a tin-foil hat conspiracy. There are quite a number of people on this forum who were way ahead of us, and have been quite patient with us while some (like myself) have played catch-up.
The link to the original Agenda 21 thread, with all the previous data, links, and discussion can be found here:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2738418/posts
With this new thread, I am proposing that we continue our practice of collecting data and links to relevant articles, but I would also like to see discussions and brainstorming, advice, ideas, on WHAT DO WE DO ABOUT IT?? Nuts and Bolts. Baby steps. Giant steps. Letters to the editor. Letters to representatives. After action reports. Putting into practice the overcoming of the Delphi Techniques practiced by Sustainability Meeting Facilitators. Ways to educate our fellow citizens. Etc.
Thanks for the alert, MestaMachine! While I know that there could certainly be the replay of the Late Unpleasantness Between the States of the 1860s, it is my fervent prayer that the one of the 2010s can be mitigated by the Grace of God!
MestaMachine and several other of our participants have urged me to alert the ping list to the very grave concerns we have before us regarding water and water rights.
I strongly encourage participants of these different states and even states surrounding them to please consider posting a link to this post on the various state bulletins of our forum.
Please note my new tagline. WE CAN DO THIS!

Clearly, it was jolting news the New Mexico Legislatures Water and Natural Resources Committee wasnt prepared for. During Mondays committee meeting, in the Barbara Hubbard Room at the Pan American Center Annex, lawyers representing the New Mexico Office of the State Engineer, Elephant Butte Irrigation District, and the city of Las Cruces, told the committee that a state Water Court hearing will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday, at the Third Judicial Court Complex, 201 E. Picacho Ave., and the future management of states water supply could hang in the balance of the hearings outcome.

The U.S. Government is suing New Mexico for perceived damages in a groundwater case, and the prize is control of the states water. In May 2011 we learned that the EPA was beginning to change the way Americas waters are controlled, and that control was to be extended to your ponds and puddles.

Is Obamas federal government getting ready to put a huge red X mark on the Hoover Dam, which supplies most of the American West with its life-sustaining water? Having this scenario play out is quite plausible as Barack Obamas Executive Order # 13547 in support of the global Law of the Sea Treaty (L.O.S.T.) seeks to take control of our water in any form of precipitation, from sky to ocean! Total water control will give the American president and his global cohorts total control of all U.S. citizens if this initiative is not stopped by still-free citizens...snip

TOMBSTONE The City of Tombstone is embroiled in another dynamic showdown.
The Town too Tough to Die is now squaring off against the U.S. Forest Service in what could be the fight of its life, a battle over water rights.
On Friday and Saturday, a group called the Shovel Brigade will gather in Tombstone and head to the Huachuca Mountains to make repairs to the citys waterline, which was damaged by mudslides and boulders after last summers Monument Fire flooding. While the 26-mile waterline fed by springs in the Huachuca Mountains has been Tombstones main water source for 130 years, the U.S. Forest Service is refusing to allow mechanized equipment into areas to make the repairs. Citing the Wilderness Act, the forest service is concerned about environmental damage that heavy equipment could cause to wilderness areas while excavation work and rebuilding are underway....snip

They have already begun trying to restrict Military voting.

Wild Lands 2.0’: Defeated Salazar Policy Resurrected in Back-Door BLM Move
PJ Media ^ | August 3, 2012 | Bridget Johnson
Posted on Friday, August 03, 2012 6:17:51 PM by jazusamo
Western lawmakers are crying foul over new Interior Department guidelines that resurrect the controversial Wild Lands policy that was killed by Congress in April 2011.
Bureau of Land Management manuals uncovered by Rep. Rob Bishop (R-Utah) and Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) include language nearly identical to the draft proposal put forth by Interior Secretary Ken Salazar in December 2010. The Wild Lands policy was intended to identify and manage wilderness areas while circumventing the normal and transparent congressional process.
Pulling manuals from the BLM site on July 31, the lawmakers compared the policies and found the new language to be even harsher than Wild Lands in the carte blanche authority granted to the agency.
In some circumstances conditions relating to wilderness characteristics may have changed over time, and an area that was once determined to lack wilderness characteristic many now possess them, states one section of the BLM text. Both manuals include a provision that gives BLM the authority to identify any roadless island of the public lands as possessing wilderness characteristics, even under 5,000 acres in defiance of the Wilderness Act.
What an amazing coincidence. obegone orders the cia to help the rebels and the brotherhood just happens to be the only organized ‘militia’ in Syria.

Muslim Brotherhood establishes militia inside Syria
The Muslim Brotherhood has established its own militia inside Syria as the country’s rebels fracture between radical Islamists and their rivals, commanders and gun-runners have told The Daily Telegraph.
By Ruth Sherlock, Richard Spencer in Beirut
6:48PM BST 03 Aug 2012
Calling itself the “Armed Men of the Muslim Brotherhood”, the militia has a presence in Damascus as well as opposition hot spots like Homs and Idlib. One of their organisers, who called himself Abu Hamza, said that he started the movement along with a member of the Syrian National Council (SNC), the opposition alliance.
“We saw there were civilians with weapons inside, so we decided to co-operate with them and put them under one umbrella,” he said.
Hossam Abu Habel, whose late father was in Syria’s Muslim Brotherhood in the 1950s, said that he raised $40-50,000 (£25,000-£32,000) a month to supply Islamist militias in Homs province with weapons and other aid.
The militias he funded were not affiliated to the Free Syrian Army (FSA), the main rebel movement, added Mr Abu Habel.
“Our mission is to build a civil country but with an Islamic base,” he said. “We are trying to raise awareness for Islam and for jihad.”
Wow quite an article! It desperately needs a summary done in just a few paragraphs.
Unless bureaucrats begin to experience personal pain for breaking the law and acting brutally on the public at their will, they will not stop. People have to go to jail and pay for the damages they have caused. If they don’t, we have a communist infrastructure that is free to abuse the law and constitution at will.
For example, ATF managers who dealt guns over the border should stand trail for their crimes. DOE and White House shysters who violated purcurement regulations to reward Obama’s alternative energy donars, need to go to jail. They have caught GSA managers abusing government funds for excessive vacations and bonuses. You prosecute a few and they will get scared because government employees are basically cowards who abuse power when they canget away with it. The FED needs to be audited and investigated....and on and on.
Government and elitist corruption (a class of people above the rule of law) promises the brutalization of the people. When government officials violate the constitution - separation of powers - they have comitted treason. I don’t say this as a joke. They should face execution.
I agree with you a thousand percent but I don’t see it haappening in the foreseeble future without something hugely drastic happening. What the catalyst will be, I have no idea. They have so many irons in this fire now it could happen anytime, anywhere and we would be blindsided..
Ping to Post 573.
Most lawyers are liberals and they will never prosecute government employees for acting as communists. Most of them disrespect the constitution and rule of law now.
It has to be planned, arranged and orchestrated ahead of time by people who have real influence and who will take a flame thower to the place. An Elliot Ness type comes to mind. Leave the politicans alone for now. Go for those who broke the law in obeying their illegal orders from political officials.
When I was a contract officer, I would not violate the law upon orders of a superior in my agency or poltican or even the President. Their happiness was not worth my prison time as the official responsible for spending the money in accordance with the law. It’s not like that anymore but it needs to be that way.
So we need to go after the government employees who violate the law and abuse power (violate the constitution) first...politicans will face the music along the way or be so freaking scared, they will stop messing with America.
There is no use in us even discussing corruption and the third world hell we are headed for, if we don’t have the wits and connections to use the power of the rule of law.
The difficulty is in condensing so many moving parts into something that brief while still maintaining the cohesiveness of the narrative vis a vis the connections involved.
It's unfortunate that the piece requires a longer attention span than most folks are capable of maintaining, but that is sadly a fault of the news consumer rather than a case of the author being long-winded, IMHO.
Glad you were able to check out the article. I sent the link to all of the "awake" people in my address book.
Thank you for the ping.
Our country has become really sick with the Obama cancer-plague and with some clear exceptions, Congressmen and Senators fit in comfortably as “criminals” for sickening complicity (by omission) and not confronting the greatest crime of the century - the Obama usurpation/hijacking of America.
Sorry if I sound harsh and disillusioned but the Obama regime is made up of gangster-thugs and it is frustrating that decent Americans are being betrayed by Congress as a whole.
And if this raises the question of “what can they do with a Democrat Senate in place” then we are not capable of defending ourselves and the Constitution and our country.
Having experienced Khomeini’s take over in Iran, an accurate description is that Obama is to America what Khomeini was to Iran. A tyrannical, lethal dictatorship in the making.
Killing has yet to start in America (other than some strange Obama related deaths) but seems to be in the planning and preparation stages if I am connecting the dots correctly based on what seems to be going on.
Reminder: Khomeini was a Marxist-Islamist with his “popular movement” orchestrated out of the Tehran Soviet Embassy with the Marxist Islamist Fedayeen and Mojaheddin the mob builders.
