Perhaps this post should have been relegated to the Religion thread, to which I would have not responded. However, since it is News/Activism, I felt compelled to put forth my two cents. I truly commiserate with you, but me and mine were simply not brought up to expect resolution of our problems from strangers - forcefully through Government. I also would comment that my (and my family's) dogged determination to solve my own problems isn't an opportunity; it is a commitment backed with resolve and hard work.

I was not brought up to rely on anyone but me, not even a husband. I was taught to do things myself to ensure that they were done and done correctly.

For 30 years, I was a military wife, and my children both served proudly, as did one of my grandsons. As a military mom and wife, I learned how to do things that most women would run from. The only thing I can see, seriously, that sets you and I apart is that your parents were educated in HOW to be self-sufficient. My parents weren't around long enough to do that for me.

Solving one's own problems IS an opportunity. I chose it. The choice is where the commitment comes in.

We are in the General Chat department, no longer News and Activism. Therefore, we chat, and have no topics except the ones we choose for the moment. Again, may God bless you in your search for independence from government interefence and handouts. We all wish you well. And truly, I don't need your commiseration. Commiseration does nothing.
