Rush is the man. I don’t expect him to endorse. Why should he?

It was hard for him to promote dragging that pathetic old carcass over the finish line ... the last candidate we nominated.

Do hope we can find someone to get enthusiastic about this time round.

The 2008 election was unwinnable for any Rep and especially so for John McCain, the worst candidate the Reps could have chosen. He became the presumptive nominee of the party with just 33% of the vote. He was pro-amnesty (McCain-Kennedy), pro cap and trade, against drilling in ANWR, and a maverick who sided with the Dems on many issues including restrictions on political free speech as embodied in McCain-Feingold.

The country did not want a third Bush term. Bush and the Reps had become very unpopular with approval ratings in the mid 30s. The 2006 mid-terms, which saw the Reps lose control of Congress, were a harbinger of things to come. The Dems were energized and motivated. The country was heading into recession and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were becoming more unpopular. Unemployment was increasing and a recession was in process.

To say that any Rep threw the election of 2008 is pure nonsense. It was lost the day McCain was nominated. The McCain defeat would have been far worse without Palin. If Romney and his supporters were trashing Palin, they were not very effective. She emerged as a much more powerful and influentional political force as a result of the 2008 campaign.

McCain put the final nail in his campaign coffin when he suspended his campaign to come back to Congress to support TARP. When the Stupid Party nominates a maverick as its standard bearer, the result is preordained.

nsurance companies should not be forced to insure high risk people without commensurate premiums. Bottom line.

Well, that's what Maine did, and why most of the carriers subsequently packed their bags and beat their feet.

The best thing about Newt is that Newt knows where the bodies are buried.

The worst thing for Newt is that the bodies know that Newt knows where they are buried. Hence his decline.

Newt would be great in educating the public were he president. Say what you will about him, he makes you think.

God bless all here. Happy New Year. Don’t know what I’d do without Free Republic and all the good people here. I truly believe we will be Obama-free by the end of 2012.

I don't know if he did or not, but he IMPLIED the hell out of it.

Newt’s the sharpest knife in this drawer and would mortify BHO in public debates.

I hope voters do not vote for the best debater. Newt is intelligent and articulate, but he is not a good administrator or motivator or decision maker. They are the qualities that we need in a Chief Executive Officer of the USA.

Holy cow, David Gregory was an ass!

From what I saw of the interview with Santorum, David Gregory shot past "liberal bias" right into "liberal bigotry." I wonder if the new management in North Korea is interviewing for a new media chief. David would fit right in.

Whomever the republican nominee is, the media will attempt to destroy. Remember Reagan, the "Amiable dunce"? All Republican nominees will be "dumb", unless, of course, they are "evil", too. And all democrat nominees will be "brilliant".

Last election the democrats had one candidate who was certifiably insane, one is about to be jailed for illegally paying his mistress, another who had failed at "Hillary Care" and had no other accomplishments, and another so stupid that he wouldn't even release his grade school records, much less his college transcripts. Yet there were ALL "brilliant" in the eyes of the legacy media.

All candidates have flaws. The beltway cocoon will amplify the Republican flaws and ignore the democrat flaws. It seems like all you want to do is repeat the media mantra, and tear down any one who will eventually be nominated from our side.

And that’s why I still like Bachmann, she knows it will also take a veto proof majority in the Senate to get rid of the Health Care bill. Anything short of that and we’re stuck with anemic economic growth and the fast downward spiral of Socialism thanks to Democrats, who won’t be able to elude the shambles they leave the country in, even as they know they are getting their free pass for now. The party of the come-back-kid becomes the party of the go-away-kid, 10 years of recovery for each term, and I’m too optimistic according to my father.

Bachmann seemed to thrive for a while as many have.Quite frankly I have always been suspicious as to whether or not she has been running for VP by providing interference/blocking for Romney by going after anyone who is out front except Mitt.Much like the huckster did for McLame.
Hard to tell.

100% accurate.

I also believe the last 3 years have really hurt the democrats, so we can be back in the White House next year, if the “stupid Party” does not live up to it’s nickname.

For the sake of the SCOTUS, we need to get Obama out!!!

Think about what he can do on the Court alone to further erode our Republic, even long after he is gone!
