As I sat with my extended family on Christmas, we discussed how beatable Barack Obama is. And as I listened to them run through the litany of reasons why this is so, I could only say again: If the Republicans nominate a true conservative for president, Barack Obama is done. As it is impossible for his record to hold up to the scrutiny that a Reagan-like candidate would subject it to, so too it is equally impossible to diminish the energy and support Tea Partiers would bring were they to throw their weight behind a candidate whos not just a fiscal conservative or a social conservative but a real life conservative through and through: Someone who is pro-tax cut and pro-life, pro-spending cuts and pro-traditional marriage, as well as pro-military and pro-victory in the war on terror. Granted, there arent many candidates that fit this bill. Romney certainly doesnt, Huntsman couldnt, and Ron Pauls views on our military efforts overseas and our culpability in the 9/11 attacks raise disturbing questions.
Moreover, Pauls seeming indifference toward the plight of Israel, an indifference some construe as animosity, will be more and more problematic for him when it is better publicized.
Of course, conservatives could think about Gov. Rick Perry, a staunch supporter of the right to keep and bear arms without nuances, a man who loves our military, despises big government, and understands that our enemies attacked us on 9/11 because they hate us: and that they hate us because the heritage of our Judeo-Christian culture is freedom.
When Perry entered the race, he proved he had the capacity to rally grassroots supporters in a way that none before him, save Gov. Sarah Palin, had been capable of doing. He has flaws, and I have not been shy about highlighting those when they came to my attention. However, he is consistently pro-life, pro-marriage, pro-God, and pro-states rights. When talking to friends about Perry Ive said, He never met a tax cut he didnt like. Does he debate well? Who cares. Honestly, the debates have proven to be almost fixed, as the moderators give more time to their favorites or those they consider front-runners, and that effectively shuts out others (Perry included). Besides, Im looking for a Commander-in-Chief not a debater-in-chief.
Yet if Perry fails to get traction, we will have to look elsewhere.
Enter Palin. Shes a conservative, shes proud of her country, shed be a strong ally for Israel, and shes beautiful: for these reasons the left hates her. They actually fear her, but they present it as hate to keep from showing their weakness. And I dont see any reason why see cant reassess the field and enter the race, in the event Perry fails to regain traction or if no other candidate jumps in. It seems that Palin agrees with this assessment, as just last Monday she said: It's not too late for folks to jump in. Who knows what will happen in the future."
I honestly believe Perry or Palin would be a nightmare scenario for Obama. And as Ive watched Perry speak on the fly, and heard his conviction, Ive continued to hope he regains traction. But if he doesnt, I hope Palin will jump in and fight like a girl so we can have a conservative in the White House again.
Palin could do to Obama what Reagan did to Carter, times ten. And who wouldnt pay to see her look Obama in the eye during a debate and say: A recession is when your neighbor loses his job, a depression is when you lose yours, and a recovery is when [Barack Obama] loses his.
LOL - yes, the Quicki-Mart!
Yikes....poor Yoric...er Randy...I knew him well....
First Zot of 2012 to boot!
Yikes! Alas poor Yorik...er Randy...I knew him well!
Such an easy one.
Thank you ;)
And Happy New Year to you and your family and friends :)
Be safe. I was in the Pashtun/Dari Farsi region a few years ago. Speak Farsi and Dari (80% similar then it stops abruptly, specially accent).
Funny how our talking heads idiotically say that Iran cannot block the Straits of Hormoz, when all it takes is to sink a couple of rust buckets by opening their bilges or our navy to sink a couple of Iranian ships in the narrow channel and oil tanker traffic stops. Right then and there. Till we can remove the wrecks! Not so easy for us, simple for them.
Stay well,
LOL
A few people were saying that they knew him from the FReeper Canteen! Weird posts from such a person.
Weird and too bad, but necessary zot, I’d say. Great photo of you, too.
Just the opposite -- he is too much an operator, telling people things they want to hear, and then going off and governing like a business-wing RiNO. Including catering for the OBL, which when you say that elicits screams of indignation from the Perrywinkles -- because it's true!
It was noted in passing that Clinton had an ace ability to get and hold the headlines (with the help of his media whoredolaters), and the thought was, a cleanout of Clintonistas and prosecution of their crimes would allow Clinton to tie the Administration in knots with political stunts and postures, neutralizing Bush.
Republican RiNO reasoning .... Bush should have just appointed a special prosecutor and let 'er rip. Let Ken Starr pursue Clinton crimes wherever opportunity presented. (One theory was that Clinton would be able to beat any charge by just singing a few verses of "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" to the inevitable DC jury of 12 blacks.)
Yes, that’s where I knew him and he even went on a trip with
some of us a couple of years ago. Kind of a loose cannon but
never thought it would end like this. Too bad....he’s a vet, too. :(
I noticed some recent signups on this thread too. Wonder if he already is back on the board...
Now you’re beyond me with the Undead Thread stuff. But a decent IP tracker should help toward minimizing retread troll activity.
For people like me who only boot from home it’s a slam-dunk. People who move about are harder to track of course, but even then, many are habitual in their places of hookup. And cell phones are another issue, a big one I’d expect. I don’t know how that would fit into the equation. Still, it’s a tool that can be beneficial in many cases. I wish you luck.
That’s true, I’m sure. Yet many of us, myself included, don’t look at writing style as much as content. So these guys get missed by us rather easily. That’s why I enjoy being called to a zot thread. I’ve had a lot of fun lately...
Yep, that's who I had in mind as well.
Happy New Year to you, too, Allegra! Hope it's a good one!
I think you're just nostalgic for the sound of dialup... :D
