Mitt Romney has now jumped to his biggest lead ever over President Obama in a hypothetical Election 2012 matchup. Its also the biggest lead a named Republican candidate has held over the incumbent in Rasmussen Reports surveying to date.
The latest national telephone survey finds that 45% of Likely U.S. Voters favor the former Massachusetts governor, while 39% prefer the president. Ten percent (10%) like some other candidate in the race, and six percent (6%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
A week ago, Romney trailed Obama 44% to 41%. The week before that, he held a slight 43% to 42% edge over the president. The two candidates have been essentially tied in regular surveys since January, but Romney remains the only GOP hopeful to lead Obama in more than one survey. Despite Romneys current six-point lead, his latest level of support is in line with the 38% to 45% he has earned in matchups with the president this year. However, Obamas 39% is a new low: Prior to this survey, his support has ranged from 40% to 46% in matchups with Romney.
A generic Republican candidate holds a narrow lead over the president again this week as has been the case all but three times in weekly tracking since late May. Obama leads all the other named GOP candidates by as little as seven and as much as 15 percentage points. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, Texas Governor Rick Perry and businessman Herman Cain have all surged ahead of the president at one point but did not maintain those leads.

I mean he’s not a conservative religious person any more than Ann Coulter is. They’re social libertarians at least.
.0000001 per cent less. Go look at the liberal judges he appointed in Mass. They are some of the most liberal judges ever appointed in the state.
Interesting point about the immigration thing. What Newt said was that he “didn’t think the American people would go for” a scorched earth deport policy. And he is perhaps right about that. He didn’t say Free Republic people wouldn’t go for it. And he clearly said he would be ok with a state that did go for it. There’s no way there will actually be a ridiculous 25 year thing put into law. Ain’t gonna happen.
But deportation is about a 65-35 or 70-30 loser depending on who is polled and how the wording is - nationwide. But secure border is a big winner nationwide and is the necessary first step anyway.
If the next President seals the border, the problem will have largely taken care of itself in 5-10 years anyway. Especially for states that take it upon themselves to ship out criminals and those on hand outs.
That’s why I don’t get too exercised over anything beyond border security. Everything else is just a pee pee measuring contest to see who can talk toughest on the issue - but won’t make a bit of difference in reality. And I live in reality. I may try to change it, but I live there.
I’m willing to concede some ground on the immigration issue pragmatically in order to not alienate the Hispanic vote. They are far too important to the future of the party. “Kick ‘em all out” will play with Hispanics about as well as Hitler would poll with Jews. I also don’t find it a moral, Christian perspective to punish a child who was brought here illegally through no fault of his own. I agree with Newt’s position wholeheartedly.

I hate Romney personally - but I have to put my feelings aside as we need to get rid of obama.
Women will vote for him because he looks like the husband they wish they married. Its that security thing.

I think you’ve described women like Ann Coulter to a tee with your last statement. You just nailed it!
Only a shock if you aren’t observing this race carefully. Romney has always been the one with the potential to beat Obama.
So now you are comparing Hitler and German Jews to Romney and Illegal Aliens?
Please, don't ever post to me again.
It is truly a waste of time to discuss ANYTHING with you.
Yes, Scott Rasmussen is a well known Democrat Party operative.
Loon.
Here you go Romney fans. Mitt on liberal judges in Mass:

“ABO in the general.”
I know you will, but I am alarmed to see all the early willingness on FR to tolerate Romney at the ballot box, BEFORE THERE IS EVE A FIGHT, when Newt is, was and shall be the proven game changer. This FR thread is a huge boost to the Romney team pervuing conservative websites. Hate to see them grinning and so self satisfied with Prole’s
exhibition of overeach, cheerleading, Newt mocking, women’s vote guru-ing, crystal ball stroking, voodoo for Romney. Just sayin’. I just don’t like it. One bit.
Said but true. Romeny looks like the guy in the Lexus commercials giving the wife the new car next to the tree that women wish they married. The picket fence, the worry free life.
Its absurd of course, but its all marketing and emotion.
If you think he can motivate women (the backbone of any election) to oust Obama in the General Election, then you are wrong.
I guess I give women more credit than you.
I don’t see that much of a difference between Newt and Romney to be honest.
Nope, Im not buying it either, this is a hopenchange 2.0 psyop to get us used to Romney..
100 pounds?
Huge difference Rita. Newt governed as a conservative and advances our causes. Mitt governed like a left-center progressive and set back the conservative cause years in Mass.
Obama got a nudge up in the polls the other day because of Iraq war ending. His bounce is gone already.ANYBODY would beat Obama ( if he does not use voter ID fraud and ACORN again and cheat) Romney will not be the nominee.Santorum will be.
