If it’s really that close... Gingrich wins, because the average voting age in the Iowa caucus is like 65 or something like that, and Gingrich gets most of his support from the elderly.

LOL Texas, I am 58 and for Newt... Don't feel myself `elderly`, but I am NOT in Iowa either...
Error in title... Change since Dec 18 poll. Paul 17.3 down 6.6, Romney 17.2 down 1.0, Gingrich 16.7 up 4.8, Santorum 13.4 up 10.5 , Bachmann 11.8 up 1.7, Perry 10.5 down 5.0 , Huntsman 2.8 down 1.0.... Numbers change since previous Insider Advantage poll...

lol

even when they added 30% independents and Democrats to the mix they still could only make it basically even.

Go Gingrich!

I read the poll that in the age group 65+, it is 28.3% Romney, 13.4% Gingrich. Am I missing something?

Gingrich and Perry do best amongst the older voters in this poll. Romney does best with Republicans but only slightly. Paul isn't going to be in this race because much of his support comes from Dems and Indy's.

looks like this is coming down to the wire

If you look at the internals, Romney has a 12 point lead in the 65+ age group (over Perry). Gingirch leads the 30-44 age group. Ironically, Bachmann leads Paul in the 18-29 group. In another headscratcher, Bachmann also leads among democrats.

Romney is tied for 4th among males and is in 1st with women. Paul is ahead in the male vote. Santorum leads in the black vote and Romney is well ahead in the illegal immigrant vote.
