pictures of family gunned down Christmas day by estranged husband and father dressed in Santa suit

The crazed gunman dressed in a Santa suit who gunned down two families while they were opening their presents on Christmas morning was the father and estranged husband of three of his victims.

Aziz Yazdanpanah, who had separated from his wife in March, is believed to have opened fire at an apartment in Grapevine, Dallas - just after the family opened their gifts - before turning the gun on himself.

Just hours before the families were killed, the group had thrown a large Christmas Eve party at their ranch. Dozens of friends and relatives celebrated late into the night, according to WFAA8.com.

Friends say Yazdanpanah, 56, likely showed up unexpectedly the next morning as he had not been invited to the party.

The victims have been identified as Nasrin Rahmaty, 55, the wife of the gunman, who worked at a nearby salon.

The couple's two children were also killed. Friends say Nona Yazdanpanah, 19, was a student at Tarrant County Community College and her brother, Ali, 15, was a student at Colleyville Heritage High School.

Yazdanpanah also killed his sister-in-law's family. Zohreh Rahmaty, 58, who was Nasrin's sister, and her husband, Hossein Zarei, 59. Their daughter Sahra Zarei, 22, was also shot.

Unlikely they were Christians: one of the kids was named “Ali.” Also, if they were Christians, the media would have reported it. The national US media, while reporting the crime, has yet to identify the victims and killer.

And there goes my theory of a crazed Lutheran upset over the lack of Christmas lutefisk.

Notice that a British media outlet is running with this. Not any US news sources.

Don’t be so daft. White Christians do these sorts of things several times a year, yet you’re focused on their being muslim? Ridiculous.

Baum said the family was Muslim but celebrated Christmas as a cultural holiday. The parents were originally from Iran.

A) There are Arab Christians

B) This didn’t happen in Great Britain, just the story is from a British news source. This happened outside of Dallas Texas.

I will say that I am friends with a Muslim from Pakistan and they do celebrate Christmas as well. In honor of the “Imam Jesus.” Not agreeing with him, just know what some do.

Aziz Yazdanpanah

Nowhere in the article was there a mention of religion, country of origin, or Honor killing. Therefore, you have to assume this perpetrator was Amish or Mennonite. You would be racist and bigoted to assume something as innocuous as the ROP.

Maybe some of the neighbors assumed (as those on FR are doing) that because of their race, origin and names that they were Muslim.

My dad’s cardiologist is from India and most assumed he was Hindu or Muslim, but he was also Catholic.

Or perhaps they were close enough to actually know them.

Another neighbor, Allison Baum, said she was close friends with Nona Yazdanpanah, who had hoped to be a lawyer someday. The two girls were classmates at Colleyville Heritage High School last year.

“We carpooled every day together. When her parents separated, I would pick her up from the apartment,” Baum said.

...Baum said the family was Muslim but celebrated Christmas as a cultural holiday. The parents were originally from Iran.

No truth has emerged through the criticism of your fellow FReepers.

This is just one of many reports concerning Christmas related attacks:
Being Christian is a death sentence

While this could be an isolated crime of passion, the justification for such acts is not uncommon among haters of Christianity. The ROP assumption might be wrong, but not farfetched.

Neighbors said the family was Muslim, but had always hung Christmas lights on their home — except this year. The dad disapproved of a daughter's boyfriend.

People can make assumptions that are wrong; however, your assumption that they were Christian is based on what? I'm not trying to provoke you, just curious.

I wish JimRob would expel people from this board based on stupid comments.

This place would be pretty quiet if he did.

Bankruptcy? Sad to see how the economy has claimed so many victims.

Condolences to remaining family .

I understand the burning desire for some to be Muslim apologists, but in a case like this? Really?
