Gee, I must have missed something... powered railways have been around for almost 200 hundred years, and human power push railways for thousands.... are you saying getting more horsepower out of outdated technology is "advanced"? if it has wheels riding on 40 pound a yard rail, it is not advanced... now, if you can get magnetic, no contact transports (at this point they would no longer be railways, as they would not be riding on rails) then you can talk to me about "advanced"... until then this is just a hippies dream, and a talking point for mass transit....

By your thinking, as powered aircraft have been around for more than 100 years, the Concorde would be "just a hippies dream".
