China launched a super-rapid test train over the weekend which is capable of travelling 500 kilometers per hour, state media said on Monday, as the country moves ahead with its railway ambitions despite serious problems on its high-speed network. The train, made by a subsidiary of CSR Corp Ltd, China's largest train maker, is designed to resemble an ancient Chinese sword, the official Xinhua news agency reported.
It "will provide useful reference for current high-speed railway operations," it quoted train expert Shen Zhiyun as saying.

It’s not like we were going to. High-speed rail is considered a boondoogle by the Republican Party and can’t get enough votes to be built anywhere across country.
They can kill or imprison half their population, and still have a nation of “free”” Chinese that is twice as big as the US.
At least they’ll die REALLY FAST.
In a numbers game it is the only way to win.
Sounds like you are upset the Republican Party does not support high speed choo choo..
What other kind of technology is there in Red China other than stolen? When the Nytimese publish an article agreeing that one of their favorite countries has problems you know it's true!
The Real Problem With China "For the United States, the No. 1 problem with Chinas economy is probably intellectual property theft. Technology companies, for example, continue to notice Chinese government agencies downloading software updates for programs they have never bought, at least not legally . . . Chinas leaders have reason to be nervous about all the barriers they have built. Chinas elite, in government and business, are deeply concerned that their companies remain unable to create truly innovative products. "
How about if instead of tracks all over the country, we put wings on the thing? Now, it can go wherever it wants to go, and then maybe it could go faster than 500km/hr, maybe 700-800 km/hr? That would be something...
Oh, wait, we've had that for 50 years...
That's because it's also one of the least subsidized train systems. And that's a good thing.
It's a government program. There are no risks. The only question is the size of the subsidy which, in the case of high speed rail, is massive and ongoing.
Two words - elevated tracks.
I would not describe millions of Americans fired when their jobs were sold to the Chi-coms, as unneeded.
“their jobs were sold”. Employers have jobs and people are employed to fill them. A job does not belong to the employee unless you subscribe to Marxism.
Most of the proletariat does not own the means of production. The greedy capitalist do and they employ their capital were it gets the best return. Sad to say that, independent of all those evil Chinese who force our countrymen into buying their goods, our country punishes the formation and deployment of capital and harasses anyone who dares to exploit capital in the name of profit.
f you are an employee and wish to own your job so that it cannot be sold then save your money and buy one. If you cannot or wish not to do that then leave the rest of the people who do invest money alone.
Machines exist to produce things which are usually sold to make a profit. If the thing cannot be sold for a profit then the machine is unneeded. Would you force a company to use machines if their use is unprofitable so long as they have jobs attached to them?
The US sells used and obsolete machines all over the world. By your logic it all needs to stay so people can keep “their” jobs. Maybe we can get back all those buggy whip machines. They employed lots of people.
It may not been a hippie dream but it was funded by tax dollars which is a hippie dream. Leading your lifestyle of choice on someone else’s dime.
The concord, most mass transit, buy local, etc. All hippie dreams.
That's not what she said. And you can see Russia from Alaska.
I know, a liberal actress on SNL said it. :D
That was my point.
I’m a confirmed Sarahbot.
(on loan to team Gingrich)
You complicate things.
(on purpose)
I simply support import tariffs.
Big ones. 100%.
Then let the market settle things. Trust me, it will, pretty quickly. :D
Yeah, real simple. So a 100% tariff on oil, that will really help jobs when we are paying to 2X world prices for oil.
The market will sort it out after a tariff. If you like markets why not let them sort it out before the tariffs. Or do you just hate the fact that we are free to spend our money as we see fit?
Just stating the facts, sir. If the Dems were in power, tose “choo choos” would be under construction. Then we might have a reason to care if the Chinese had obtained the plans from us.
More likely they got them from a source in the EU, where these trains are more popular.
And you don’t have to worry, because we’re not going to see those trains here anytime soon. The auto is a protected species, and the oil and gas industries will continue to get $4 billion in taxpayer subsidies every year.
However, when one looks at Europe and Japan, the US economy is doing much better. Unemployment in some European countries are around 20%. And Japan is starting to experience deflation.
While the next 10 years, maybe more, will be tough going, I do not believe it is the end of US or Europe or Japan economic development or progress. What is happening, is the established countries are having to deal with the rising BRICSS countries. With China being the most significant of the bunch.
As I mentioned many times before, I do not believe trade is a zero sum game. I just don't see it.
