From The Ron Paul Political Report, October 15 1991
American Values?
During the Iraq war, American troops were instructed to use specially equipped tanks to bulldoze the trenches that held Iraqi soldiers- Not a single American was hurt, so meager was the resistance. Thousands of Iraqis, teenagers coerced into the army by the dictator Hussein, were buried alive, while the unprecedented military tactic was hidden from the public through media censorship. Captain Benny Williams, who Led the charge was awarded the Silver Star for his role. Also hidden: the apparent fact that many of the rag-tag teenage soldiers were trying to surrender as they were entombed.

“Even in the biggest cities like Omaha and KC you will meet folks with a gas pump on their land.”
We have gas pumps on our land?????
Forget it; he’s rolling...
Iraq war ends with a $4 trillion IOU
Veterans’ health care costs to rise sharply over the next 40 years
The nine-year-old Iraq war came to an official end on Thursday, but paying for it will continue for decades until U.S. taxpayers have shelled out an estimated $4 trillion, over a 50-year period, that comes to $80 billion annually.
My Children's Children get to pay for this failure. And too many people here are itching to borrow money form China to keep the failed foreign policy alive!
...Bravo, thanks for posting this.
I agree.
Then why does he think Manning the traitor is a hero?
Then why does he think Manning the traitor is a hero?
So sad to see the truth being laid out about such a nice
Jew hating , 9-11 truther, ear mark loving , code pink
Supporting fraud !
I was still working as a reporter then and it was a well known, and well reported story at the time of DS. These were not specially equipped tanks. They had the standard issue plow front that many had.
They were enemy soldiers. Tens of thousands of enemy soldiers surrendered. They were well fed, well cared for and given medical attention.
These men did not surrender. They died.

PS; Ron Paul is nuts.
Many of Ron Paul’s young supporters are the anti-war leftists. If he drops out they most likely will support Obama in the general election. If he drops out before the primaries end they would probably turn into Mitt supporters (only because he’s the least conservative of the GOP group). They would likely vote for Obama or a 3rd party candidate in the general election.
Personally, I think Ron Paul running as a 3rd party would hurt Obama more than the republican nominee.
I would like to see that. Do you have a link to the C-Span video?
Not after they started the war by sealing our then peaceful sailors in the hull of the Oklahoma.
But are the charges in the story true??
I was using like-for-like comparisons - costs incurred during previous wars compared to costs incurred during Iraqi Freedom. If we run through the numbers the way you're proposing, we could equally run up the follow-on costs of previous wars and come to roughly comparable numbers. Iraq Freedom cost roughly 6% of GDP. WWII cost 200% of GDP. Vietnam cost 13% of GDP. And so on.
Could we have avoided fighting Germany after Pearl Harbor and skipped the 300,000 dead and 150% of GDP we lost in North Africa and Europe? Absolutely. We could even have given up Hawaii, which is pretty much useless for anything apart from planting tropical fruit, and left Asia to the Japanese empire, while skipping the 100,000 dead and 50% of GDP we lost fighting in Asia. Would the abandonment of territories outside of the continental US have been the right thing to do? A lot of people will disagree with you on this...
No less important - as the story begins to spread, can Ron Paul win in the general? Heck - can Ron Paul beat Obama even without these stories?
Yet another example of why, on foreign policy and military issues, Ron Paul dovetails snugly with the Chomsky-Zinn America-hating left.
However the Turks had screwed the Kurds first by refusing to permit of our land forces entry and thus any northern attack. Kind of hard to provide support would be allies from the far side of a sizable country you’re fighting. Given the state of Turkish-Kurd relations the Turks were probably pleased with the results.
