Donald Trump is officially a man without a party. The real estate mogul whose flirtation with the 2012 presidential race has never really ended despite announcing seven months ago he would not seek the Republican nomination has been signaling he wants to find other ways onto a presidential ticket.
Trump took another step in that direction on Thursday, switching his party affiliation from Republican to unaffiliated, according to a source close to the reality television star.
According to the source, he did so because he is disgusted with the way Republicans are handling matters in Washington, including the recent payroll tax cut deal. But the move also sets Trump up for a potential third-party run for president a possibility he began talking about almost as soon as he told his fans in May he wasnt running.
Trump has sought to reach out to the group, Americans Elect, an online, independent presidential nominating organization that has already made it on the ballot in several states, including California.
Couple Donald Trumps name recognition with his extraordinary wealth and Americans Elect truly becomes a viable force in determining who the next president will be, Trumps top political adviser Michael Cohen told ABC News. One thing is for certain, Donald Trump is adamant that Barack Obama must be defeated in 2012 under any circumstances.
This is not the first time Trump has changed his party registration. He registered as a Republican in the late 1980′s, then switched to the Democratic Party in 2001 only to return to the GOP in 2009. Trump hinted at an independent bid for president as recently as last week.

It is also obvious that the general public still does not understand how big a mess our country is in.
Considering that most citizens never took a basic civics class in high school and couldn't name the three branches of the federal government, of course we as a self governing nation are in deep doo doo.
I can't number the times I've overheard people in public who think:
1) To cure the national debt the gov't just has to print more money.
2)The Rich have all the money taken from the poor
Not invested in factories, stores real estate but kept it hidden away in a big pile (presumably they swim in it like in an old Richie Rich cartoon)
3) Global warming is real/fake that GOP/Bush created/ignore to benefit his rich Texas buddies.
And my favorite:
These voters believe...
4)The president literally has dictator-like powers(hence everything bad was Bush's fault and if only he cared about them he could have helped "the Poor" but instead only enriched his rich Texas buddies.
But now that Obama is president(and had a super majority in congress) those damned republicans still have the power and ruined Obama's plan to help everyone.
The Founding Fathers were no fools and had a good reason when they only allowed persons who were literate and had property to have the vote.
Now the country has gone hog wild with the nation's credit card and the bill has been long overdue...

My question is: what's Bloomberg doing? He won't take votes from the right.

You have enjoyable satirical talent. Can I get this bronzed? That way when the next one is really bad I'll always have this to remember my brief moment of triumph. LOL!
In all seriousness, thank you for the nice compliment. I do appreciate it.

It doesn't really matter. Hell let Trump run as a Third Party. I am so friggin' disgusted right now. The current GOP field has already so beaten, bloodied and broken each other to the degree that, whomever the nominee is, he/she will go into the General Election like a bleeding, dying lamb thrown to the Democrat wolves to finish devouring. WE HAVE MANAGED TO PULL DEFEAT FROM THE JAWS OF VICTORY. And I'm pissed at my girl Sarah, and Sen. Jim DeMint and Paul Ryan and a few other good solid Conservatives for not jumping in the race. Of course after seeing all the crap this bunch of meat-heads has thrown at each other, on top of the media beating them up, guess I can't blame them.
The GOP sucks!!! After the 2012 Election, it's time to form the Conservative Party of America; if there is still an America left.

Trump leaving the Repub Party was a smart move. He now can counter Ron Paul if he does decide to run as a 3rd party candidate. Plus, he can bash Obama without the Republicans getting blamed. Donald Trump bashes Obama and China harder than anyone .

Trump was on the ship but he was working for the Democrats all the time. If you did not see that, you were blind.

Truthfully? I’ve never been that interested in ANYTHING Donald Trump did. He’s always just looked out for #1...and in business I guess that’s the way it should be.
I would certainly never entertain voting for him. :)

This can’t be right. According to the Trumpkins, he’s been a Republican since 1989. Continuously.
