Republican disarray over extending a payroll tax cut has quickly become part of a bigger political story that has been unfolding for months: the resurrection of President Barack Obama and his fellow Democrats heading into the 2012 elections.

The RINOS stand for nothing, except to bend over backwards and kiss the butts of their democratic masters.
Sad but true. God knows what he’ll do when he doesn’t have to face re-election.
Gergen is pimping for his masters.
Unfortunately we’re all downwind....
And you believe anything that David Rodham Gergen has to say about GOP politics? Can you point to any previous time when this guy was ever right on anything?
Rush even said before he left, a bunch of crap is coming down the pike, don’t get discouraged. No doubt, this is some of what he was alluding to.
Well, if the winds shift reverses then maybe we can expect another leftist generated September surprise like war with Iran.
Why can't we rid ourselves of these losers? The only authority they seem to be able to exercise is over the conservative elements in the party.
David Gergen has lost my respect several administrations back and appears to me to be the Libocrats token for his reliably liberal and “go along” attitude. His views incline me to take an opposite position.
Rush said this would happen a few weeks ago. The winds are not shifting, Obama is toast and this is why the media is doing this crap.
This is what happens when you only control 1/2 of 1/3rd of the government. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. This was neither a win or a lose, from what I gather because in the end, the sticking point will be addressed. This was more of a Reid temper tantrum with Obama not acting like an adult.
What this is, is a prime example of why we need to regain control the Senate and get back the presidency. Because if this was a republican president, we all know the media would be bitching about how they’re gutting social security with this “tax cut” and they’d run out a bunch of old people in front of the cameras whining about insolvency.
Sit back, relax and enjoy Christmas..
Rush is right and most people are paying no attention to this. Just politicos like us here pay attention. Elections are a very long way off.
“Why can’t we rid ourselves of these losers?”
I can’t even figure out how to get involved in local politics.
Which, of course, might mean I’m too stupid to help.

Seriously? Keeping a 2% reduction in SS tax during the longest and worst recession in the last 50 years is going to give Obama the momentum to win the election?
What is the author smoking?
Exactly right.
The incompetence of Boehner and Cantor is just astounding. They should resign in disgrace. They cannot control their members and are totally useless leaders.
Again.
Just tell me, when was the last time one of Boehners great strategeries worked? Ever?
These guys have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory and are in the process of losing control of the House, not that they’re fit to run it anyway. Totally disgusted with the lot. 11% approval rating? That’s 10 points too high.
Amen to that. And good advice. Merry Christmas!!
McConnell and Reid were collaborators in setting up Boner for this pre-Christmas fiasco. And Boner was too stupid to do anything about it.
McConnell is probably being blackmailed by the Rats for being a homo, but it’s shameful that Boner just bends over and takes it from McConnell.
Remember the Lame Duck session this time last year?
After the 2010 election congressional republicans said the democrats were done for.
But the democrats went bat-crap crazy and stomped the republicans into the ground.
Republicans came to in the middle of the road with bad headaches and boot tracks all over them.
Well, that was just a warm up for the entire year of 2012.
Republicans are working hard to secure an Obama victory from what once looked like an almost certain defeat.
