From my FR piece
(Vanity) First Take on Sarah Palin's "Going Rogue":
"...Finally, around the time I have stopped reading, Palin describes her time as Lieutenant Governor, her association with the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (AOGCC), and her run for governor. This section of the book is a veritable gold mine, but it is worth touching on a few salient lines and points along the way. The most interesting thing politically, is that the FBI executed a number of search warrants related to corrupt legislators, relating to oil-and-gas interests. The next most interesting thing, is that Sarah was stonewalled by a number of people -- including the head of the AOGCC, the governor, the attorney general -- in getting to the bottom of the corruption. Her response was telling (p.99):
"I knew what I had to do, so I resigned -- stepping away from the ethical lapses and hierarchical blinders to effect change where I could--on the outside." "
Oh. Sh*t.
Do you suppose?
“Somebody like me — is a title and is a campaign too shackling? Does that prohibit me from being out there, out of a box, not allowing handlers to shape me and to force my message to be what donors or what contributors or what political pundits want it to be? Does a title take away my freedom to call it like I see it and to effect positive change that we need in this country? ... You don’t need a title to make a difference, truly.”-Sarah Palin
She said this right before she announced that she wasn’t launching a campaign for president on October 5th. If she has nixed the idea of a campaign and embraced the idea of being an outsider, what do you think she is really going to do with her time other than try to renew another season of Sarah Palin’s Alaska Travelogue?
She has been rejecting the GOP. Where does she go, now?
Do you think Ailes is happy with her and he’s going to renew her contract after she announced her decision not to run on Mark Levin’s show instead of on FoxNEWS?
She already said a third party run is out.
Where does Palin go from here?
