I’ve been a pretty big fan of Gingrich and his accomplishments as speaker, but these very intemperate remarks about dissolving courts and firing judges really worry me. We don’t need to oust the Obama imperium to replace it with another that could be even worse.

The 9th circus could be broken up into 2 courts...Its rulings cover 5 state. Too Big...congress makes the courts and can change them...but not with a democrat in the white house. Thats why it hasn’t been broken up yet...with a republican in the WH democrats will not go for it and visa versa....Judges can be impeached and removed. Congress I think is in charge of that....GG

I don't see much difference in that process and the impeachment of a president; all are "equal" branches of government and it takes Congress to do an impeachment of the president; the only difference I see is that they are "impeaching" a judge...and there are plenty of them that need it.

Get enough of these "rogue" judges and they make laws doing an end-run around the Constitution, and therefore need to be subdued.

It's all about "checks and balances", that's what is great about our Constitution.

if he abuse it, yes, but to be honest, too many judges have abused their power and should be fired

Gingrich is talking ONLY of keeping judges in line with the constitution, and using the constitution to do it.
Why a problem with that?

.

I support newt one-hundred percenton this ...

Newt's proposal to NOT to arrest judges Nazi-Style ... but only if they have been Constitutionally FIRED by BOTH the Congress and the President ...

On one has ever said this (to my knowledge) ... BUT ... why do so many "conservative" judges go bad ?

Perhaps ... because of the STUPID life-long appoimtment, they have been successfully black-mailed ...

Just a thought ...

Newt is running for Prez. He cannot subpeona judges.

Congress could vote to disestablish the entire lower court system tomorrow. It would be Constitutional. We are about 50 years late in reminding the lower courts that they exist at the pleasure of Congress.

Ah, so you wish to continue with the imperial, unelected, and so far unaccountable federal judiciary?
Really? If congress can make them, congress can unmake them.

the constitution gives the house the power to dissolve courts, create new courts and/or impeach judges and order their arrest, if need be. This is part of the separtion of powers... if this bothers you, perhaps another country is where you should be living

If he said that my support is going to evaporate. What would you think if Obama had federal judges who ruled against his wishes arrested? That is an incredible statement! The Constitution has a mechanism for dealing with bad or corrupt judges, other than appeals courts...

WADR, I think Newt is talking about beginning to NOTICE and TAKE ACTION AGAINST rogue judges who do atrocious, unconstitutional legislating from the bench. Precedence? Thomas Jefferson, 3rd POTUS. Pretty solid footing.

IMHO, the reason we have seen INCREASING rogue legislating from the bench is because the pu$$ies who SHOULD do something about it only sit and whimper while twisting their lace-trimmed hankies around their fingers! Go Newt!!

Newt is saying PRECISELY what it will take to drag this Nation BACK from the precipice, and the only thing that WILL do it! No more pattycake! No more Mother-may-I?! Newt it TELLING America what he will do. It remains to be seen whether the voters REALLY WANT their Country back, and if they’ll elect in individual with the stones to make it happen!

I too am a fan of G, but these types are statements are one of his BIG weaknesses, regardless of whether or not you agree with him. You just dont go saying these kind of things and expect to win a national election, it turns many people off, myself included.

Your missing the point. He’s not replacing anything just removing judges that are activists and who ignore the constitution to suit their own agendas.

If you don’t think there’s a problem today with judicial activism then I guess you wouldn’t get the point anyway.

Realize Newt's running for president.

He's saying CONGRESS can do these things and, in fact, Congress has such powers over the lower courts via Article I and Article III. If Congress doesn't pass legislation to do these things, he knows as a president he can't go it alone. That's a big difference compared to Obama.

Some Conservatives might think this sounds like a good idea. But it isn’t. And worse, there’s no way the independent voters and republican moderates are going to vote forr Gingrich saying these things.

This is exactly the problem with Newt. He says some good things, and then he goes off the deep end. He’s unelectable, and the sooner we realize it, the sooner we can get back to finding a CONSERVATIVE candidate to beat Romney.
