Check out this interesting story: Updated: 13 SC Tea Party Leaders Blast Bachmann Tactics – Patch Nearly a month after a SC spokesman for Rep. Michele Bachmann accused Newt Gingrich of trying to buy off the state’s Tea Party leaders by bringing them on as staffers, more than a dozen of the movement’s leaders are fighting back.

In a strongly worded letter issued Friday afternoon, 13 leaders of the SC Tea Party movement accused her of “attacking the tea party movement by accusing tea party supporters of Newt Gingrich of being bought off” and said she has escalated the battle by making it national news by discussing it with John King on CNN Wednesday night.

“Now that Michele Bachmann herself has decided to throw fuel on the fire, and this issue has become national news, we as leaders within the South Carolina tea party movement feel we must speak out to defend our integrity,” reads the letter, which was circulated on Twitter and on at least one Tea Party website.

They accuse Bachmann of trying to divide the Tea Party movement, and defended Gingrich, who has said time and again that the only real opponent is President Barack Obama

As I have said, he endorsed Scozzafava over a genuine conservative. He’s supported the individual mandate, various versions of cap-and-trade, and many other Big Government policies. It was the conservatives in Congress who threw Newt out of the Speaker’s chair. He’s an open admirer of Woodrow Wilson and TR, and he says the best president of the 20th century was FDR. (Any conservative knows it’s Reagan.)

It’s remarkable how similar Newt’s actual record is to that of Mitt Romney. So if you don’t consider Mitt a conservative, you can’t rationally consider Newt one. And if you do consider Mitt a conservative, then you have no idea what a conservative is.

My guess is there is lots you “aren’t aware” of particularly Newt’s legislative history and achievements.

Newt is not my favorite but it is just a lie that he is not a conservative. Beating him with the truth and making him confront his contradictions is one thing (which I support) but using (often media-generated) falsehoods and distortions of fact is something totally different.

In point of fact, Newt has a conservative record NONE of the other candidates can even remotely approach. ACTUAL achievements, as opposed to Pie-in-the-Sky rhetoric and few achievements.

No, he didn’t. There was no substance to the allegations against Cain, but the media played them up to destroy him because he’s a black conservative who deigns to think for himself, so he had to be lynched by the Establishment — not just shut down politically, but personally destroyed.

We do not need anyone helping Democrats to Congress not even phoney Tea Partyers. The Left will use this tactic more and more and the ignorant will fall for it repeatedly.

Politicians are those who take part in political activities. Here those are the people called the “Establishment”.

People operate under many myths around here and one of the biggest is that the Founders were not politicians. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Politics is unavoidable in political society. To think otherwise is to ask for apple pie when there are no apples.

He gives money to a LOT of people, trying to help them. Ginger White was one such person.

If she really was flying around the country meeting him at fancy hotels, where are the airline tickets and teh hotel receipts?

“It was the conservatives in Congress who threw Newt out of the Speaker’s chair.” That is a unadulterated LIE.

“...getting a President elected is what matters.”

That is the main point.

What passes for “principles” generally is confusion and irrationality and has nothing to do with principles. There is nothing above beating Obama and no amount of sanctimonious breast-beating will change that.

I meant that sarcastically. The point of the whole post is that if we just keep electing establishment people for the Presidency and most of Congress, a handful of "outsiders" or "Tea Party" people will not change a thing about the course the nation is on.

As some people used to say, elections have consequences. Part of America electing Obama in 2008 is the learning process of pain that America has now gone through for 3 years.

If we had "won" with McCain, Repubs would have had all they could do to muster a disagreement with a "fellow Republican", we would have a had some kind of "obamacare lite" passed, still had bailouts but just for maybe 20% or so less in size, Christian and Jewish religion will still be under assault by the Federal government, but just a little less so, muslims would be permeating political circles just as much as they are now, the Dept. of Education would still be growing in size and power, the debt ceiling would still keep getting raised, the Goldman-Treasury revolving door would continue unabated, etc., etc.

"Principles" are all that is going to save America.

"Winning" an election appeases voters for a while. Before they get too mad, there's another election. I say "winning" with complete sarcasm - because though we think we've "won" an election we're so completely screwed anyway if we keep electing wheeling-dealing politicians.

I really lost a lot of respect for her. She attacked everybody and often in a very disrespectful, sarcastic and cynical way... and is getting nastier as it goes on, as if she is bitter that she can’t keep her base.

Why did she lose her base? I think I know why. She has no real ideas of her own, and she spent a lot of time ridiculing ideas that Conservatives were interested in. Her attacks on Cain’s 999 plan were out of line imho, and they made me suspect that her career as a “tax attorney” has blinded her to ideas that would appeal to the TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY party. I’m not saying that TEA Party loved Cain’s 999 totally and unconditionally, but they got him in part to the 25% at one point before the scandals. TEA Party liked the out of the box thinking, and she poured cold water scorn on it, calling it Satanic in so many words! Rude, and meanspirited.

She has the social issues but not the economic or political issues. Social issues matter but rank 3rd in a time when we have 21% real unemployment, 1% GDP growth, we’ve doubled the national debt in 3 years and if we lose this election we will have imposed upon us the greatest and possibly most detrimental social experiment the country has faced since Social Security — which we all know has to fail at some point due to economodemographics.

And so early in the race she had the TEA Party behind her, but they drifted to other candidates who addressed the more pressing issues. And she got bitter because of it. I don’t think she is Presidential material and I don’t want her in One Observatory Circle (the VP mansion) either. Keep her in congress where she can push the issues that are important, but let the mature men and women run the party and politics.

No, it’s an accurate statement. The conservatives were the ones who deposed Newt. Sorry it doesn’t fit the Newtbots’ story, but it’s the fact of the matter. Several members of Congress who ere there at the time have said this. Remember, Armey ( a “Tea Party” conservative) was involved sub rosa.

Our political system is one which is designed to prevent radical political changes. So we can only progress through marginal changes because the People have to be convinced to go along with the change.

It was not designed under the idea that there would be political parties or machines or have universal suffrage or a media which is actively anti-American and anti-decency. These all have taken our nation away from the original design because that is what the People have wanted or allowed.

There will be no fundamental change until the ideas of the People as a whole are changed. That may well be impossible since Democrats have most of it convinced it can get something for nothing.

Congressional defeats in 1998 lead to Newt’s resignation. Conservatives were dismayed to see their Leader leave.

It is not accurate to say he left because of conservatives.

I’m sorry, Ginger White sunk him. That and Cains crappy defense saying things like ‘”Many” of these accusations are untrue’ over and over.
I never believed Sharon Bialick.
The other could never be proved since the court records were sealed.

Had Doheny stayed out and not challenged Hoffman, Hoffman would have won. Shame on Doheny and the GOP.

Your posts are intriguing. You seem to give equal time to all. :)

I suffer no delusion that politics “is what it is”.

Even during the Founders Day.
