The Company Ron Paul Keeps
The Weekly Standard ^ | Dec 26, 2011 | James Kirchick

Posted on 12/17/2011 12:53:38 PM PST by Proud2BeRight

"The Republican Jewish Coalition announced this month that congressman Ron Paul would not be among the six guests invited to participate in its Republican Presidential Candidates Forum"........ "While Paul’s views on Israel certainly place him outside the American, never mind Republican, mainstream, there is an even more elementary reason the RJC was right to exclude him from its event. It is Paul’s lucrative and decades-long promotion of bigotry and conspiracy theories, for which he has yet to account fully, and his continuing espousal of extremist views, that should make him unwelcome at any respectable forum, not only those hosted by Jewish organizations. "

If that woman was a “one-off” you’d have a point, but I’ve personally seen worse, more than once, at Tea Party rallies and elsewhere. I’ll bet a lot of others here can testify to the same.

I’ve been reading and reading up on the various candidates. I really like that Ron Paul is pro-liberty and pro-Constitution. Here is what I don’t understand about ANY of the candidates:
Why are we even talking about fighting wars overseas when, right now, there are violent Jihad armed Islamic camps behind our lines, here on American soil? Here is a link:
http://creepingsharia.wordpress.com/2009/11/16/known-terrorist-training-camps-in-the-u-s-map/
Doesn’t anyone find it odd that no candidate is campaigning on purging US soil of these camps? It just doesn’t make sense to me.

[Ron Paul] is a crackpot. He is NOT conservative. He is NOT Tea Party. He is NOT GOP. He is the babbling streetcorner crazy that people cross the street to avoid.

Ok....CynicalBear, whom does God say should be the one “eradicating”? Why do some here on FR hate Islam? Aren’t there some radical Christians that make our side look horrible?

>>whom does God say should be the one “eradicating”?<<

Eradicate? Christians don’t “eradicate” anyone. One the other hand, Jesus did have some things to say about who we associate with and accept into our “house”. He definitely let us know how he treats those who think those who “preach another gospel” are just fine and that we should bless them like we do other Christians.

“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.” Galatians 1:8-9

2 John 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. 10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: 11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

Now, you can go right ahead and do as you wish but that last sentence above tells me pretty plainly what to think and do.

>>Why do some here on FR hate Islam?<<

Well, let’s look at what they hold as their holy book and commands from the god they serve.

Have no unbelieving friends. Kill the unbelievers wherever you find them. 4:89

When you fight with disbelievers, do not retreat. Those who do will go to hell. 8:15-16

Those that the Muslims killed were not really killed by them. It was Allah who did the killing. 8:17

Those that the Muslims killed were not really killed by them. It was Allah who did the killing. 8:17

Fight the disbelievers! Allah is on your side; he will give you victory. 9:12-14

The "Religion of Truth" (Islam) must prevail, by force if necessary, over all other religions. 9:33

Fight the disbelievers and hypocrites. Be harsh with them. They are all going to hell anyway. 9:73

Fight disbelievers who are near you, and let them see the harshness in you. 9:123

If you refuse to fight for Allah, he will punish you with a painful doom. 48:16

Here’s a distinct difference between Islam and Christianity.

Christianity But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.” Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” “No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.” (John 8:1-11) Islam There came to him (the Holy Prophet) a woman from Gamid and said: ‘Allah’s Messenger, I have committed adultery, so purify me.’ He (the Holy Prophet) turned her away. On the following day she said: ‘Allah’s messenger, why do you turn me away? ... By Allah I have become pregnant.’ He said ‘Well, if you insist upon it, then go away until you give birth.’ When she was delivered she came with the child (wrapped) in a rag, and said ‘Here is the child whom I have given birth to.’ He said ‘Go away and suckle him until you wean him.’ When she had weaned him, she came to him (the Holy Prophet) with the child who was holding a piece of bread in his hand. She said ‘Allah’s Apostle, here is he as I have weaned him and he eats food.’ He (the Holy Prophet) entrusted the child to one of the Muslims and then pronounced punishment. And she was put in a ditch up to her chest and he commanded people and they stoned her. (Sahih Muslim 4206)

So, if the Republican Jewish Coalition believes that RuPaul is an anti-Semite, he has a right to be heard at their forum even though they choose not to invite him? That’s bizarre.

One newsletter reported on the heretofore unknown phenomenon of “Needlin’,” in which “gangs of black girls between the ages of 12 and 14” roamed the streets of New York and injected white women with possibly HIV-infected syringes. Another newsletter warned that “the AIDS patient” should not be allowed to eat in restaurants because “AIDS can be transmitted by saliva,” a strange claim for a physician to make.
Gangs were doing this in the 90s.

That’s funny.

The rest of the country was looking at Herman Cain and scratching their head wondering what in the world would possess people to vote for someone so uneducated and unqualified to be president of the United States.

Ciao again tkas,

Well the problem is solved by dint of the fact that the Jewish Republican Coalition can invite whomever they want.

“Republican” and “Democrat” are a bit different than parties in other countries, more like big tents. As we see there are NeoCon Republicans, Social Republicans, Non-Interventionist Republicans, RINO Republicans, Constitutionalist Republicans, etc. etc.

My view is that 1) there are many Jews for Ron Paul. I doubt they’re worried about his supposed anti-semitism, which from what I’ve seen and read is a canard.

http://www.facebook.com/JewsForRonPaul

2) The Mid-East situation is a logic-defying mess full of unintended consequences. Over here we have a saying “God protect me from my friends, my enemies I’ll take care of on my own.” A cogent argument can unfortunately be made, and therefore deserves to be heard, that a certain type of interventionism has unwittingly played into the hands of the Islamists.

3) Okay this is hypothetical, but if a Republican Party debate were ever held in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem, I doubt Ron Paul would be excluded. Jews as I’ve always known them, are not afraid of opinions. In fact, as the saying goes: “arguing is the National Israeli sport” - or - even more famously - “2 Jews, 3 opinions”. In this, Italy (where I live) is quite similar.

4) Frankly much of the debate has generated into character assassination minutia and away from the important issues.

5) Allowing a view to be aired is NOT an endorsement. In fact it’s an opportunity for refutation.

BTW, so far I’m for Newt Gingrich. I came to that conclusion freely, listening to him and comparing. I saw one of his speeches at Harvard University, surely not a “safe” place for Republicans on any issues. I was pleasantly surprised that they invited him.

I admired David Horowitz who went on a campaign to end political correctness on American campuses. I admired Ann Coulter (no longer well beloved here because she’s a Romneyite) for doing the same.

I find the decision of the RJC un-American, un-Republican and even un-Jewish... in other words, a bad, ill-liberal (old sense of the term) and slightly paranoid decision.

I happen to think a non-interventionist position would be preferable to Obama’s position, but I think RP’s position comes from a “not good” place. Besides, on a political level, and with the POV of a patriotic American, I do think we should have close allies with countries with similar values and national goals. I know lots of conservative Jews, but have yet to meet a Jew who supports Ron Paul.

I think it is a mistake and petty for the Republican Jewish Coalition not to invite him to the forum.

Why would the Republican Jewish Coalition want to invite someone who hates Israel to their forum? Do you think Planned Parenthood would invite Phyllis Schlafly to a forum of theirs?

You are so uninformed on so many topics it is scary.

First, you really need to understand the true nature of Islam. It is more than a religion, it is a way of life based on life of Mohammed.

CynicalBear pointed out how Mohammed wants his followers to treat an adulteress. This has been going on for generations. Kill her. Killing is the nature of their religion. You see the example of Mohammed played out today in Islamic countries. Somali adulterer stoned to death

Spend some time educating yourself. Robert Spencer does a good job here explaining Islam - Blogging the Qur’an This is part of his introduction:

“To understand the motives and goals of Islamic jihad terrorists, one good place to start might be to explore what they themselves say about why they’re doing what they’re doing, and what they want. That in turn will lead you to the Qur’an (or Koran), the Islamic holy book. The jihadists quote it frequently and portray themselves as those who are following “pure Islam,” the genuine article as it is taught in the Qur’an and Islamic tradition. So in the course of my work explaining the jihadists’ objectives, I’ve quoted the Qur’an a great deal – and hardly a day goes by without my being accused of “cherry-picking” violent passages, and quoting them “out of context.” Meanwhile, the Council on American Islamic Relations and other Muslim groups say that in order to understand the true, peaceful Islam, we should read the Qur’an.

So over the course of the next few months, I’m going to read it, and discuss it in a series of columns. All of it. Not “cherry-picked” or “out of context.” The whole thing, beginning to end. … I’ll try to explain how mainstream Muslims who study the Qur’an will understand any given passage, and what its import might be for non-Muslims.”

I encourage you to spend time with you Islamic friends discussing this.

Also note that Israel is the only place in the Middle East where the Christian population since 1948 has increased. It has risen by more than 400 percent. This also includes non-Arab Christians, such as Russian Christians who have moved to Israel as spouses of Jews. Religion of peace? – a big lie.

Winston Churchill understood the threat from Islam:

How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live.

A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it.

No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome.
Sir Winston Churchill (The River War, first edition, Vol. II, pages 248-50 [London: Longmans, Green & Co., 1899]).

Our military did not bankrupt us. This was done by the progressives, socialists, democrats and RINOs who built a massive government and welfare state. You can track spending on the “war on poverty” to the national debt. These same people spent all the social security funds.

Wars to end Nazism, fascism, communism are cheap compared to the waste of mindless social spending.
