A Russian spacecraft bound for a moon of Mars and stuck in Earth's orbit will come crashing back next month, but its toxic fuel and radioactive material on board will pose no danger of contamination, the Russian space agency said Friday.

IIRC, there are no interplanetary rockets being planned by any private firm in the near future.
BUT! You are correct about low earth orbit missions! Another 10 years and those will seem easy.

No, he won’t. The Republicans won’t let him.
The problem with the Russians is the loss of institutional expertise when the Soviet Union collapsed.
And the STS looks pretty good, even if it’s politically designed.
