Pretty sad when the Tea Party has to throw themselves behind people other than Constitutional conservatives. None of them are 100% perfect, but Newt or Romney? That is desperation.

Our system is so screwed up.

Let me know when you see a strong congressional leader. Boehnner will do whatever mitt asks...it is the dc pecking order. Paul Ryan will be thrown a few bones and sign on. Supposed conservative leaders like Alan West will sign on too, just like tea partier Nikki Halley. If Mitt wins, the fix is in for another establishment era. We will probably need a one term Romney, one term dem and then a real conservative candidate from our current bench to rise up and save us from the ash heap of the collapse.

Not familiar with her nor her statewide ratings but the following are from early Sept and mid Dec. polling.

snip
The Winthrop Poll, published in newspapers across the state Sunday, showed 34.6 percent of South Carolinians approved of Haley’s job performance, while 43 percent disapproved.

And:

Haley’s approval rating is at 41 percent, while 43 percent disapprove of her. Sixteen percent were “not sure.” Those numbers are down from June, when Public Policy found 42 percent of South Carolinians approved of Haley while 41 percent did not.

She just made the same mistake that Santorum made in endorsing S.P.E.C.T.E.R. only 10 times worse. HE was an incumbent and to go against him would have meant breaking many many rules and customs. SHE is a newly elected tea party governor who seems to be revealing herself as a hack. Too bad. She’s so pretty.

Did anybody else see this, or did I have too much to drink last night?

Had Fox and Friends on this morning when Gov. Haley was discussing her endorsement. Below her the Fox News Alert bar said “Haley Barbour to announce endorsement today” or something of that sort.

My questions:

1. Is Haley Barbour really going to endorse somebody today?
or
2. Fox got their Haley’s mixed up?
or
3. I was still half-buzzed and really didn’t see anything I’m describing here.

The GOP takes us for granted. They KNOW we'll vote Republican no matter who gets the primary. They take our labor and our money, pretend to listen to our concerns, and then use it all to woo independents.
That's why they always choose a RINO for our winner. They're not interested in our vote. It's already guaranteed. They need the mushy middle vote, and they'll screw us over every time to get it.
They know they can stomp all over us and we'll still give them our vote - "Or the democrat will win."

It just hit me - Romeny is the Al Gore of Republican politics. He seems nice enough, as Gore did when he was VP, but there’s just something fundamentally wrong in there.

I agree.

The man is running second to anything, including dust mites, and he still has the establishment’s support.

When Mitt Romney DOES become the 2012 nominee of the Stupid Party, it will be most instructive just what Free Republic does. Does it eat it’s words and reverse itself, rationalizing and supporting him and the RINOs against Obama or will Free Republic become a site supportive of an Alternative Conservative Party and candidate for president based on restoration of Constitutional principles?? Really wondering these days.

Supposing worse comes to worst, and Romney the RINO wins the nomination, what’s going to happen to FR?

Will Jimrob have to ban all Presidential Politics discussion? Will FR become a pro-Obama “teach the GOP a lesson” retaliation underground?

Just wondering if that’s what happens, then the cataclysm of flame wars on FR might be what the Maya prophesied for 2012?

I’m saying it lacks all credibility to come right out of the gate accusing Governor Haley of being “bought” and so on.

She’s reached a different conclusion than some. That doesn’t make her corrupt.

If that were to happen, I would enforce one rule... if the mindless R-bots start to hassle, harangue and browbeat posters on how they must support this Socialist scum Willard over Zero ought to earn an instant, permanent ZOT.

Sarah has no intention of doing such a thing. If he won the nomination she may well campaign for him as apposed to HOMO Berry.

But NO, Sarah has no plans of endorsing Romney, absolutely not!

SC Gov NH disrespected Gov Palin on tv on more than 1 occasion, I wrote her off way back then

More and more it looks as though it is going to come down to a Newt v. Romney battle.

Many on FR think this is a settled issue, but out there in the rest of the world, it certainly is not.

Now that Newt is the frontrunner, the same phenomenon is going to happen as happened to Romney: everyone else, including Romney, is going to get a second look by a lot of voters.

Whether or not this will be reflected on FR, that’s JimRob’s call.

Don’t know, but I know where I will stand. I will write in somebody, if that means an Obama second term, so be it. At this point, I’d vote for Hitler over Romney.
