UPDATE: US Commerce Secretary: Won't Accept China Ignoring Trade

--New Commerce chief signals tough stance with China on trade

--Criticizing Congress, urges companies to join in effort to create jobs

--Pledges to revive manufacturing, attract more investment to U.S.

(Updates with additional comments, background starting in 11th paragraph)

By Tom Barkley Of DOW JONES NEWSWIRES

WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)--The new head of the U.S. Commerce Department vowed Thursday to hold China accountable for unfair trade practices and revive the American manufacturing base, urging the business community to join in the effort to create jobs.

John Bryson told the U.S. Chamber of Commerce that he understands corporate America's frustrations with the partisanship in Washington but said President Barack Obama is taking actions on the job front, and they should too.

"America needs you to invest here now. America needs you to put people back to work," he said.

With uncertainty about Europe, economic demand and "dysfunction" in Washington tempting companies to sit on cash, Byson called for businesses to "act boldly" on jobs and investment to help the U.S. counter rising competition from fast-growing developing countries like China.

He urged Congress to pass the president's jobs package, including extending the payroll tax. But said, "we can't just do nothing waiting for this Congress to act."

“Pledges to revive manufacturing”

So, the administration is going to disband the Environmental Protection Agency, work with states to tone down local environmental and tax policies, and somehow block environmentalists ability to sue projects to a stand still?

Really? Because I don’t think so.

Everyone in this administration is full of s$%#%.

WTO helping China Loot Caterpillar
americanthinker.com ^ | 10/04/2010 | Howard Richman & Raymond Richman

"Why can’t Caterpillar make a profit exporting mini-excavators to China? The answer is simple: China has a 30% tariff on all excavators. In fact it has a similar high tariff on just about every vehicle, be it a Ford car, a GMC truck, a Harley Davidson motorcycle, or a giant mining machine made by Bucyrus International."

The United States Constitution, Article I, Section 8:
“The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;...To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations,...”

The Tariff Act of 1789 was the first national source of revenue for the newly formed United States.

When we have a REAL president and not an Enemy mole, then I will take these statement seriously, and only then can we rid our self's of the Leinn Protection Agency, the Bureau of Bureaucracy and Redundant Department of Redundancy.

The new head of the U.S. Commerce Department vowed Thursday to hold China accountable for unfair trade practices and revive the American manufacturing base...
...and plans to use the next big round of stimulus bills and huge tax increases to pay for the ad campaign to get everyone to forget about Zero's nixing of the Keystone XL pipeline.

Blah blah bla blah John Bryson. Champion of commerce.

In 1970, with other recent Yale Law graduates, Bryson helped found and served as legal counsel for the Natural Resources Defense Council.

No need for a trade war.

America can manufacture things for Americans. The Chinese can make stuff for China. What’s there not to like?
