One wonders what Ron Paul thinks MSNBC will do to him in a general election against Obama.
Sure, Gingrich may have attacked Paul Ryan's plan to reform entitlements. But even Newt apologized afterwards. However, Ron Paul actually voted against the Paul Ryan plan as a member of Congress.
Deeming such entitlements to be unconstitutional, Ron Paul seems to lack the common sense needed to understand that Ryan-like reform is needed. Regardless of what one thinks of social security, these programs passed in a House and Senate. They were signed into law by a President. They were further upheld by the Supreme Court. With Ron Paul's stance on these entitlements, it's hard not to imagine the DNC ads against Paul which could lie ahead. Therefore; the GOP could kiss the entire senior citizen vote goodbye in 2012 which is critical in states like Florida.
Further, many forget Ron Paul's infamous letter of resignation from the Republican Party in 1987 where he slammed Ronald Reagan. They also forget that he voted against every Reagan measure to build up our military as well as every effort Reagan took in defeating communism.
These points are very important considering many are predicting Iran's successful development of nuclear weapons. Many would rather our nominee not to be the only "R" who agrees with Dennis Kucinich on national security.

Paul sure doesn’t know you have to kiss azz to succeed in politics. He seems to offend everybody. Well except those who don’t want to go broke and borrow money from China to fight wars with Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, North Korea, Libya, Egypt, Kosovo, Somalia and Argentina. He must be nuts. He sounds like a peacenik. Did he ever serve in the U.S. military himself?

The MSM’s greatest hope is a Ron Paul ticket in the general election. It will be a non stop party all the way to obama’s coronation, or so they think. Fortunately, plenty of Republicans think the same thing.

This may come as a shock, but Ron Paul is right.
The central government is allowed ONLY those powers granted to it by the Constitution. Since Social Security, or any other “entitlement” or assistance program, is not among those powers, Social Security is therefore illegal.
Who cares if the law was passed by a mistaken Congress, signed into law by a mistaken President or supported by a mistaken Supreme Court? A mistake was made by FDR and has not yet been corrected.
The problem is Ron Paul insists on an all or nothing approach to reaching our goals.
Ron Paul votes against any intermediate steps (from privitizing parts of social security to welfare reform that would reduce the number on the welfare rolls) on the grounds that the only constitutional way to deal with things like this is to eliminate them 100%—immediately; right now; this very minute.
That unrealistic approach only guarantees that those programs remain in their current state forever.
Ron Paul always operates in “the perfect is the enemy of the good” mode. A solution can be good, excellent, or even outstanding, but if it isn’t perfect, Paul will vote against it—thus ensuring the status quo (however awful it is) wins.
