I suppose TSA is high on the list so they can shut down travel?

I read about the possibility of Obama “Standing up to Republicans!” over the Christmas Break a couple of months ago on Kos, and dismissed it as fantasy. Yet, here it comes.

The Republicans have passed a budget bill, but Obama will shut down the Governement anyway.

What better time for it? Most of DC will be gone for the next 3 weeks, anyway, and the media will be bombarding the sheeple sitting at home on their couches for Christmas Vacation with image after image, and story after story , about those “Poor, STARVING, government employees, just living check-to-check!”

What’s a corrupt Democrat not to like about a chance to write a meme like this?

Media follows suit. Leading reports with Democrat soundbites with GOP response offhandedly read in an almost scoffing tone by the newsreader.

Tried n' true Christmas time strategy from the democrats, will the GOP run scared again?

How much money do we save if the government shuts down?

Without Gingrich to mishandle it, will the GOP still fail this time?

It’s all in how the media (the Democrat Party propaganda arm) spin it. Congress sends bill to President or the government shuts down. Democrat President doesn’t sign it: Congress’ fault for sending “unusable” bill; Repub President doesn’t sign it: President’s fault for not giving in.

What ticks me off is that you can’t leave these children alone for 5 minutes without them manufacturing some crisis that we have to pay attention to. Drama Queens, all!

Government Shutdown. How many times do we have to put up with the “government shutdown” threat this year? Every time Boehner compromises, supposedly avoiding the dreaded government shutdown and resulting “propoganda victory” for the Democrats, three or four months later it rears its ugly head again.

“There is no reason for the government to shut down.”Congress could act quickly to pass a short- or long-term spending measure,

Agreed. The Democrat-controlled SENATE needs to stop sitting on legislation and hold a vote on the spending bills that have been sent to it by the House.

I lost my contracting job this month when the 2012 budget cut DoD funding. It's not just Feds who are affected.

I wish I had warning. Now I'm scrambling to find a new job, with no Christmas celebration beyond church, and the certainty that I will not have the money to pay my bills in January because I have no income in December. My wife is legally blind and cannot work.

Some of you might have no sympathy whatsoever for anyone connected with the Federal government, even indirectly. Some would say it's about time for us to feel the pain the rest of America has felt in this recession. You're more right than wrong, but there are better ways to manage the reduction of the budget to avoid mass disruptions.

I'll keep people posted about the job hunt.

Ron Paul on the shutdown, the economics and more today.

You can ignore the foreign policy & election stuff if you want, but he is dead on the money & the politics of it.
