Do you think this will work as well as the Grover Norquist Tax Pledge?
Didn’t he do that at least 3 other times?
I won’t even say anything. There are too many people who suddenly believe Gingrich is a conservative and a saint.
I think the horse already left the barn on this one ... about 30 years ago.
Considering his age and the shape he’s in, was the pledge really necessary?
I actually believe him. He will be raked over the coals for saying it, but I do believe him. My take is that he’s seen the fruits of infidelity and he’s not likely to go there again. Of course, that is JUST an opinion!
If he wouldn’t keep his vow to his Creator, should we believe that he’d keep his vow to the voters?
You have got to be sh!tting me! I guess we can all rest assured, safely with the knowledge that this pledge will have the same effect that Bill Clinton’s spritual counseling sessions with Jesse Jackson et al (of the religiously inclined wonks) after his inappropriate Oval Office BJs had, huh?
“Read my lips! No....Newt....asses!”
Good one! Is anyone else as tired of these asinine pledges as I am? And this one is the most asinine of all.
I am however, personally insulted that Newt would attempt to explain to me (the voter) that his indiscretions arose from his love of country:
"There's no question at times of my life, partially driven by how passionately I felt about this country, that I worked far too hard and things happened in my life that were not appropriate"
To me it's really no different than, "I smoked but I didn't inhale," with the exception that Clinton didn't attempt to cloak his pot smoking with his patriotism. IMHO, Newt's "explanation," is an insult to the intelligence of everybody he hoped would buy it.
I don't see adultery mentioned anywhere in his letter.
Hell yeah!
Sinners need not apply!
Eff ‘em all (’specailly dem Kathlick mofos!)
Repenting is useless!
Screw the frikkin prodigal son - we’ve been perfect all along!
No one gets a second chance!
In related headlines, Mitt took a no polygamy pledge, but refused to take a no polytheism pledge.
I would not believe Clinton if he were to take the pledge. But I’m with you about Newt.
“Read my lips ... no new lips!”
This pledge by Newt should bring about a new round of mass amnesia by conservatives around here.
