The City of Jersey City is suing the developer of the $23 million municipal Justice Complex on Summit Avenue, which the city claims was so poorly constructed that the building's foundation is "in a state of collapse," putting people "at risk of bodily harm." The complex, which was completed in May 2001, houses the municipal court and offices for the prosecutors, judges and court staff. The city, along with the Jersey City Redevelopment Agency, accuses the developer and nearly two dozen architects, engineers and subcontractors of negligence, breach of contract, consumer fraud and 12 other counts.

They got a building that truly reflects the tenants.
Boo hoo.
Look for the Union label.
Before I even looked at this article, I thought, “The old one was probably a LOT better”. I then read it, and turns out Mr. Orlando Garcia would agree with me! Why do cities automatically think new must be better than old???
Organized crime involved I would assume. Anybody seen Tony soprano lately?
Maybe some ceiling tiles will fall on passing motorists. I doubt NJ is a right to work state.
Because mold doesn’t grow in new buildings. :)
At least, not until they become old buildings.
I got the distinct impression that the pieces about that construction project (in The Sopranos) were written at the time that Justice Complex was going up. Too much detail in that for “imagination” ~
I have no doubt that contractors took advantage of the situation, However are they to bare all the blame?
What happened to the Inspectors who should have watched the foundation being laid, and made sure the cement was the proper kid, and that the soil could stand the weight.
After helping y son build his home we found that inspectors were a royal pain in the ass.As they do not like Harry Homeowner building his own home, They were there every step of the way, and it wasn’t all bad, some of the things they got on us about were good moves
Where were these inspecters when their own government building was being built.I believe the city partially to blame.
Gee, if it collapsed, think of how many liaryars would be killed. Just sayin.
Look for the Union label.

That was my first thought, too. Union’s really do have a PR/image problem, eh?
Just goes to show you the punk crooks today in “Dirty City” would n’t make a patch on Frank Hague’s “I am the Law” behind. Margret Hague is still standing. RIP Frank there will never be anybody like you again.- Tonnele Ted

If it says “Made in New Jersey” by a unionized construction company, RUN. Esp. if is says LIUNA (Laborers International Union of North America). Remember Gotti, Gambinos, Clintons; Coias? Same, same.
Union made!
Why do cities automatically think new must be better than old???
When governments are in an old building that is sound but that needs rennovation, they should restore those buildings.
Yep. Plus, I would bet anything most of the subcontractors were "affirmative action" companies.
Do they really expect the foundation to hold with all of those bodies mixed in the concrete?
Hudson County, NJ is where the pols from Cook County, IL go to learn how to be crooks.
You're kidding, right? You do know what "city inspectors" are, what it is they actually do? The inspectors can't go after their own employer (the government) for graft. They were out "inspecting" construction sites where the money is. I doubt they ever laid eyes on this justice complex while it was being built.
