Durban - A new deal to "save the planet" will force the world's three biggest emitters the US, China and India to cut carbon emissions for the first time, although scientists fear it will come too late to stop global warming. More than 190 countries managed to finally agree a new climate change deal amid chaotic scenes in the early hours of Sunday morning in Durban, South Africa. (Snip) In the end the wording was decided in an extraordinary 10 minute 'huddle' between the exhausted ministers to decide the fate of future generations.

It’s good to know they spent some time on it. /s

More destruction of the West. The World would have been a better place had Durban disappeared in an asteroid impact like the one that wiped out the dinosaurs.

It’s nice that other countries can decide how we live.
So called “gang rape” victims need to stop complaining and accept the fact that they were outvoted.

I’ve been trying for several years now to figure out just WHEN Carbon-Dioxide became our dire enemy. Trees inhale Carbon and breathe out fresh, lovely Oxygen for us to breathe. Remove Co2 from our atmosphere, and we will have much less Oxygen.
Can someone explain to me just what I am missing here?
Is it possible that the stupids in the world think they’re talking about Carbon-MON-oxide, which most certainly poisonous to us? Or am I the one who has it wrong?
Not looking for a big debate, just a little clarification.

They only had 10 minutes to spare. The lobsters, crab legs and prime rib at the buffet disappear fast so they all had to rush on over.

I thought “the big three of the US...” was GM, Chrysler, and Ford. Glad it was just talking about the three countries. Hopefully this is just circle-jerking by left wingers and nothing will come out of it

Remember this is a treaty, which means that our Senate would have to vote to ratify. Bring it up for a vote in 2012 so that all Dem. senators up for reelection in 2012 will have to vote on it.
My guess is that it will never happen (recall that the Kyoto was defeated 95-0 back before This Globull Warming stuff was completely discredited.)

"The 'Durban Platform' will commit all countries to a global deal on cutting carbon emissions by 2015 although it will not come into force until 2020"
a big LOL, Louise Gray (author of this tripe) is one of the more delusional and despicable lefties in the throes of "climate change" journal-hackery. She is noted for the practice of "churnalism" or merely recyling the press releases and fervid ramblings of enviro-whackos.
In this case she is uncritically peddling the official line that the "Durban Platform" is some real achievement for the greenies rather than a pathetic, desperate sop to the crowd. The could not (fortunately) achieve the kind of binding agreement they want, so they simply issue a declaration to keep talking.
Yes, it is tragic that we can't simply drive a stake through the heart of vampire-CAGWists. BUT Copenhagen and Durban have been a great failure for the CAGWists. The Kyoto 'process' is sputtering to its ineffectual conclusion with no serious deal in sight to involve the 3 key players outside of Europe: USA, China, and India.
Durban does provide some limited life support to greenie propagandists but no real promise of anything. Certainly China-India-USA are not going to sign onto any Son-of-Kyoto that requires them to do anything.

Fortunately it is not a “climate change deal” at all — it is merely vacuous posturing to save the CAGW dream awhile longer.
Would be best to put an end to this b.s. once and for all, but no govt wants to stand up and say the CAGW emperor has no clothes.
Yet, USA, China, and India (not to mention Russia and a number of other countries) are not going to be so foolish as to agree to a real binding agreement. This “Durban Platform” is just hot air for the greenie masses.
