Where: Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa.
When: 9 p.m. EST, 6 p.m. PST, Saturday, December 10, 2011. Debate scheduled to last two hours.
Broadcast on: ABC Televsion.
Moderators: Diane Sawyer and George Stephanopoulos.
Candidates: Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, Ron Paul, Michele Bachmann, Rick Perry and Rick Santorum.
Also, Newt he has the insight, intelligence, and know-how to get things done. I fear the next few years are going to be very difficult for the country - we need someone tough. Newt's tough.
Indeed you were. I began wondering if you worked for ABC or one of the campaigns as your predictions were almost spot on.
Santorum surprised me as well as he wasn't as whiny as he's been in the past and answered what was asked. As for Bachman, frankly I was greatful we didn't hear much from her in the second hour. As I said previously on this thread, to listen to her boast of her accomplishment makes me wonder if she will next announce she can walk on water. You said no one acknowledged her in the final question which I hadn't noticed. What I did notice was her only acknowledging Cain, refusing to recognize merit in the others. She's a smart cookie and by doing so, she's hoping to garner his supporters. Even with that, I don't believe she stands a chance nor does Santorum.

Not analogous....North Korea, Iraq, and Iran were our enemies.
And guess what..they still are!
Furthermore...Hamas IS Iran.
You wrote: “....Should Perry win, at least the debates with Newt will have sharpened his skill enough to at least TRY not to sound like a complete idiot next to Obama.”
Interesting comment here:)

In the few minutes I have before the debate starts, I think its a good time to run through my thoughts on each of the candidates and what I expect from them tonight:
[snip]
Rick Perry: The Strong ad was a breaking point for me with Perry, but not in the way you might first think. I dont care if Perry doesnt want gays serving in the military there have been gays in the military since the military was founded, and the matter is now settled so its truly beyond foolish for a Republican candidate to keep bringing it up. Its also incredibly foolish for Perry to make an anti-gay TV ad while dressed up like one of the guys from Brokeback Mountain. That jacket he wore in the Strong ad is a dead-ringer for the one Heath Ledger wore as gay cowboy Ennis in Brokeback.
I now conclude that Rick Perry is an irredeemable doofus for setting himself up for the merciless parodies the Gaystapo is churning out against him on YouTube and Facebook.
A Republican candidate for president just cannot be this oblivious, ill-informed, and downright STUPID. A serious Republican presidential candidate should not need to be told that dressing up as an iconic character from a gay movie is not the best way to wardrobe himself in an anti-gay ad his campaign filmed out of sheer desperation to gin up a little hatred and get himself a new round of attention before the Iowa Caucuses.
You know what else is a pretty popular gay movie? To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything Julie Newmar. Which of those characters will Perry be dressing up as for his next Iowa ad? I bet if he picks the Patrick Swayze one, maybe hell score some points from still-mourning fans the way Jennifer Grey did when she was on Dancing with the Stars last year.
Perry supporters keep saying that this is the last dumb thing hell do or just give him a chance and hell prove hes not a complete doofus. Well, hes had more chances than most people, and he keeps proving how truly stupid he is on all sorts of levels. This guy is Texas toast with scrambled eggs for brains.

In my defense my post took a long time to show up for whatever reason
Perhaps because you are a newbie or retread?

Not sure why you sent this to me.
When many are posting on a LIVE thread, the heavy number of posts often delays the time posts are visible.
I am not a newbie.....I’ve been her since 7/2/98
“I dont knock other candidates ...my enemy is Obama!”
We agree on that. I’m just trying to size up our best bets.
ANYBODY is better than Obama.
Bush 43 was the first President to adopt the two state solution as official US policy.
Iraq is no longer an enemy. We have diplomatic relations with Iraq but not Iran or North Korea. Our embassy in Iraq is the largest in the world in terms of number of people assigned.
Well stated:)
Oh sure, they deny immunity to our troops, they're murdering Christians...the second we leave, they become Iran...great ally.
Regardless, it's a stupid idea.
Whatever you say shortbus.
I see Mitt’s derogatory traits are rubbing off on you.
I thought Fig-Newton had a ‘so so’ night, he didn't do anything outstanding. Guess we got used to him really hitting back at the moderators.
Whatever!
