Good grief, everyone knows Newt was a philanderer over 30 years ago...and probably for a couple of decades after. He says he’s a changed man, so unless you can come up with something post-Calista Bisek and his conversion to Catholicism, leave me alone. Go peddle your nonsense elsewhere, DNC.

So many people are obsessed with sex and scandal that those politicians who do not have a record of philandering are accused of homosexuality. In spite of their political differences, both the younger Bush and Obama have been reported on numerous blogs of the opposite political persuasion as closeted gay men. The reason is that there is not a trail of women alleging illicit sexual relations, as with Clinton, Cain, and Gingrich.

Newt has undergone a major religious awakening/conversion, which he has talked and written about extensivly.

This is part of the core message of Christianity—that you can change; that you can put your past behind you and start over fresh.

The measurement here shouldn’t be what Newt has done over his entire life, but what he has done since his religious conversion.

I amazes me the number of people here that want to go back 30+ years to dig up moral dirt on Newt and act morally outraged, yet give Newt no credit for having had a “come to Jesus” moment; putting his past in the past; getting his life right with God; and getting back on the narrow path. Do they not really understand Christianity?
