If you apply Newt’s logic, Rod should not have to suffer the consequences of his law-breaking, as it is not good for families.
I’m not sure exactly what Newt said to justify that comment, but knowing Newt I’m reasonably sure he found a way for the comment to fit like a glove. He’s very very good at stuff like that.
