In Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow, the football gods have offered up a star that every father in America should be grateful for (provided they don’t root for a rival team in the AFC West).
Tebow is respectful, wholesome and a man of God. He has no obvious failings besides an inaccurate throwing arm.
If Disney were to concoct the plot of a movie about an altogether admirable young man who joins the NFL and is scorned by all the experts for his unorthodox style, yet wins week after week, Tebow would play the lead. In fact, at this point Disney could make it a documentary.
Nonetheless, Tim Tebow is considered “controversial.” It’s now cutting-edge to be a straight arrow. It’s countercultural to be an outspoken Christian. A player who embodies everything meant by the cliché “role model” is for his critics a figure of fun, or even hatred.

By any reasonable standard, though, Tebow is a blessing. He won’t be getting arrested for groping a woman at a Halloween party (Julian Edelman), for accidently shooting himself with the Glock he smuggled into the dance club (Plaxico Burress) or for running a dog-fighting ring (Michael Vick).
He won’t be taking performance-enhancing drugs. He may or may not continue his success on the field, but he will do everything he can to respect his teammates and his God.
Here is a prominent player who will almost certainly never require fathers to make awkward explanations to their kids about some spectacular scandal. Rejoice, America, rejoice.

There have been plenty of mobile quarterbacks with less than spectacular throwing mechanics. The difference with Vick is that he is white.
Oh, and none of the other guys began their career 6-1 as starters.

Plus he is pro-life, his mother & he made a pro-life advertisement for the 2010 Superbowl. Nothing will get liberals, including the MSM and Sport media, faster into a raging frenzy than a born again Christian wholesome young man who is also pro-life. Jesus said if the world hated him, it will hate you as well for following Jesus. And last of all, Tebow is white, and that flies in the face of today's political correctness in which being black is now deemed worthy of extra praise & fawning over, and being white is now deemed to be worthy of contempt. For proof of this, Greg Jennings (GB-wide receiver) always drops to his knees and points skyward whenever he scores a TD, and the sports media would never dare to criticize him... but if Tebow makes a mild gesture of praise, the media will jump all over him for that. More hypocrisy from the deranged left wing.
And he may be in our WH. Does the organization “Fellowship of Christian Athletes” still exist? I need to check on that. I believe there is a huge number of Christian NFL players as well as other professional and college sports.

When Staubach retired, so did my watching football. Tebow is about the first person in decades that can actually make me bother to turn on the set during the game.
Tebow likes to say “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.”

Saw Taylor at Giants stadium against the Iggles. I tell people that you couldn't really quite see the time between the ball snap and him making a tackle. He was so fast there was some kinda time warp. Nobody who didn't see him seems to believe it. Was a rough day for a Philly fan.
Tebow has worked on his foot work. As a result his release is becoming quicker, and his accuracy is improving. If he keeps working (and he will), he will continue to disappoint his detractors.
Jennings is not that rare among the black athletes who make quick prayer-like gestures after a good play.
We have local sports writers/radio guys that have been mocking Tim Tebow since he made his NFL debut. They are complete jerks about him. They should be embarrassed for their juvenile behavior.
My hubby and I actually rooted for Tebow against our team because of the antics of some of these so-called football “authorities”.
I love football and have had Bears season tickets for decades but I can rarely stomach these shows. I call them “Sports Babble” and mainly listen only when they have an ex-jock who actually has played the game run a show like Doug Buffone and Ed O’bradovich.
Most of these punks would have their butts kicked in high school by the jocks.
They hardly ran the option last week, if at all. And his passing was improved. A lot of Tebow-haters could end up disappointed.
As far as being mocked, look at the quality and character of the mockers. I rest my case.
Yep. I looked it up and the FCA is an international organization now - started in 1954. One of my fondest memories is as high schrooler, the great Forest Gregg who played tackle for the Cleveland Browns at the time was the speaker at our “football banquet”. He was a huge man but left an indelible impression with me and he was a member of FCA. He played at Southern Methodist University around the same time as the great “Dandy” Don Meredith. Both All-Americans. I don’t believe Dandy was a member of FCA.
I'm sure you know this, but the quarterback he sacked most was Jaws, but it might just as easily been Theisman if he hadn't ended the man's career one Monday night.
Loathsome to the man.
He is growing every sunday. His passing is coming together. He hardly ran Sunday but he still won.. I hate liberals and the media for again trying to ruin a good christian young man. Makes me sick. Go Tebow. Haven’t been this excited since 96 to 98...Go Broncos.
And, wouldn't we just love that? LOL!
