Why Gingrich Will Do (Yes, he's imperfect. Who's not? But compare Gingrich to Obama)

Yes, he's imperfect. Who's not?

But compare Gingrich to Obama. G has a Ph.D. in history (something the leftist media always forgets to tell us) and has written 20 books, some of them good ones, all expressing a deep understanding of the unique American experiment and the U.S. Constitution.

Obama thinks the Constitution is some kind of white imperialist plot designed to keep the victims of the world down and oppressed. That's why he did those deep bows to medieval tyrants like President Hu (the terror-master of Tibet), the figurehead emperor of Japan, and the desert-king of Arabia, King Abdullah of the house of Saud. No American president in history -- ever -- has physically and symbolically bowed down to medieval tyrants. Never.

Thomas Jefferson sent the U.S. Marines to Tripoli to fight the Barbary pirates. Obama has tried desperately, over and over again, to make nice with horrific fascist regimes, notably the nuclearizing mullahs of Tehran, who are about to explode their first Ego Bomb.

It's not just Israel that's in their sights, but America and Europe. That's why they just had a mob of Basiji thugs trash the British embassy in Tehran. That's why, you may remember, the thugocracy over there makes all the schoolchildren chant "Death to Israel! Death to America!" Every single day for the last thirty years.

This is not a bunch of rowdy football fans at a game. It's not a game at all to the Shi'ite martyrdom regime. It's a deadly earnest war ideology, which is why they just tried to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to the United States.

So here's Obama trying to play footsie with the Saudis; the Khomeinist regime; and soon, the Muslim Brotherhood bosses of Egypt, Syria, Gaza, Lebanon, and many another failed state in the ME.

The majority of FReepers have railed on about how disastrous a Romney nomination would be... well, here’s the alternative, warts and all.

Much as we may wish to deny it, the country just isn’t conservative enough anymore to elect a Bachmann or a Santorum.

You forgot unpredictable.

However, he’s the best option. He’s got my vote.

Yes, I'll have to settle for a man with experience, who knows what Agenda 21 is and who Alinsky is and isn't shy about attacking Obama and the misledia and was a major player in the Reagan Revolution. We could do worse!

Need the right candidate as bachmann, santorum, paul, are not presidential material but cabinet/senatorial. The only peeps so far that are possible presidential are gingrich/perry. The statement the country wont elect a conservative is wrong, get Palin, demint etc to run and see what happens.

I’ve had this argument at work. Strong Christians telling me that they will not vote for Newt under any circumstances. I say that this will get Obama reelected, several more anticonstitutional baby genocide judges and You will be responsible for this grievous sin. Hold your nose and vote for the best! . .. (by the way I am also an afflicted Browns fan. They have never let me down for so long because they have never been up. Oh for the ghost of Jim Brown!)

Our goal is to oppose Romney and anybody similar. Hillary is not Romney so should we vote for her?

The most important issue facing the country is amnesty. Everything else (judges, tax rates, 2ndAm, etc) can still be changed later. Amnesty is permanent.

Once we surrender the country and allow amnesty (”this it is the last amnesty, honestly!”), there is no going back. It will invite more illegal aliens and increase the pressure to fast-track citizenship voting rights. They will vote 80% for dems (if you count double-voting, more like 160%). 3rd world country and welfare state will be forever.

Newt is the only candidate openly pushing for amnesty. The details of his plans are not important - no campaign time plan has ever been passed as such. Newt has already conceded amnesty so the compromise bill will be the usual plan (small amnesty that somehow will end up mass-amnesty and the imaginary fence will surprisingly not work or will be canceled by judges or by future president).

Amnesty, Global Warming scam, individual mandate in Obamacare and attacking Tea Parties for “radical rightwing social engineering” should disqualify Newt permanently. His past support for gun grabbing bills, fairness Doctrine and serial adultery may be forgiven.

If we support amnesty, what is the point anymore? The country is lost. I will refuse to accept defeat.

It looks like we’re going to control the House and the Senate after 2012 so, if an amnesty bill gets passed, it won’t be the President’s fault be it president Obama or President Gingrich.

Excellent and well reasoned article. I also like the bottom comment, "Sometimes, warriors are unpretty things. But, whatever else they may be, they are warriors--and sometimes we need the fight." (though I would have ended it with, ". . . sometimes we need a warrior," because it preserves the symmetry. :))

Newt ain't pretty, but he has accomplished real reform and he loves America and our traditions--and more importantly he believes in those traditions--thus he will fight for them.

Neither Bachman nor Santorum can poll over 5%.
You’ve painted yourself into a corner.

Nevermind the country...this is the Republican primaries we're talking about, and every last one of the self-professed "real" conservatives can vote for either one of them in their state primary. The question they need to ask themselves is why they don't. Just sayin...

Yes, Gingrich is better than Obama.
But so are the following:

Why do we have to settle for anything but the best at this point?
