Newt to CatholicVote: “Human life begins at conception.”

The Gingrich campaign contacted me directly last night about the comments that he made to ABC News. The campaign sent me the following statement from Newt Gingrich. (Which is also on their website).

I am very glad that the Gingrich campaign was quick to respond to the fallout from the ABC News interview and that they came out with a strong pro-life statement which reaffirms the scientific fact that life begins at conception....

You’re the one focusing on post-viable zygotes sloughed off during a regular menstrual-cycle and I’m being silly?

I’m afraid that I can’t help you with your concept of an ‘open’ discussion.

‘Straining out gnats’ mean anything to you?

Then don’t participate if you think the discussion of “post viable zygotes” is unworthy of discussion.

No one forced you.

However, I’m glad to have you acknowledge that that was the discussion.

There are a lot of people who think stem cells from cord blood, placenta, etc, are “embryonic,” though they are adult stem cells. And I do think that Newt is opposed to the taking of innocent lives, at whatever stage of development, for someone else’s medical benefit.

"Then don’t participate if you think the discussion of “post viable zygotes” is unworthy of discussion."

You're the only one who doesn't want me to participate in the discussion. I do think it is important to show the irrelevance of discussing post-viable zygotes sloughed-off during normal menstruation.

"No one forced you.

I never said anyone did.

"However, I’m glad to have you acknowledge that that was the discussion."

You're glad to have me acknowledge that was the discussion but encouraging me not to participate in showing that it's irrelevant?

Perhaps you have heard of “conditional statements”. They generally begin with the word “IF”.

The condition in this case provides you with a choice....to participate or not participate.

"The condition in this case provides you with a choice....to participate or not participate."

And you think that you need to bring that to my attention as if I don't know that? If you think that's such a grand idea that only you could think of it, you are way behind the curve.

More likely that you would like me not to continue to show the irrelevance of discussing post-viable zygotes sloughed-off during normal menstruation. Totally irrelevant and seemingly the sum-total of your contribution.

Apparently, you needed a bit of educating on the notion of conditional statements.

Glad to be of assistance.

What a stupid statement, you are misinformed and rather biased. I believe that Newt stands for “life begins at conception” and I see NO reason to call the man a liar. By your logic, I assume you are pro-choice, is that correct?

"Apparently, you needed a bit of educating on the notion of conditional statements."

The sentence immediately following the one you quoted said, "If you think that's such a grand idea that only you could think of it, you are way behind the curve."

"Glad to be of assistance."

Is honesty in debate totally foreign to you as a concept?

I’m trying to help you out here, man. It seems like it’s starting to click.

If I had a spoon, I’d be spoon-feeding you.

Nah, it's just refusing to discuss the fact that post-viable zygotes sloughed-off during normal menstruation is totally irrelevant and the sum-total of your contribution to this discussion.

Poor Dan, you have yet to even think about what I wrote, and, sadly, you think you have it.

Here’s your homework: Go back and actually read and think about all of the posts this 2nd time through.

Ah yes, condescension. Great substitute when reasoned response is absent.

Here’s your homework. Reflect on why refusing to discuss the fact that post-viable zygotes sloughed-off during normal menstruation is totally irrelevant to this discussion and report the results of your reflection.

Pro choice? Hardly.

Newt contradicted himself. People are calling him out on it.

He modifies what his stance is on any one subject depending on the audience.

Newt is NOT A PRINCIPLED man.

Anything to avoid discussing the fact that post-viable zygotes sloughed-off during normal menstruation is totally irrelevant to this thread.

You didn’t get it the first, second, or third times. Why would you get it the 4th?

You didn’t get it the first, second, third, fourth, fifth or sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth or eleventh time.

Why would you get it the twelfth?
