No, there’s nothing to figure. Rick made a bad deal with a bad man, Specter, and kept his end of the bargain. Bob

And our Democrats were not the tax and spend kind, traditionally, until later in the 80s.JFK was more conservative than W.
Democrats didn't always suck.
Liberals, globalists, and fellow travelers always did, always will.

As a pawn broker’s wife: it means owing a debt. It can mean that your goods are put up for collateral.

potlatch: Right, in hock to means to owe. Perhaps its a Texas term, lol.
If he doesn't use that line of credit, doesn't owe them anything...well, that isn't very stimulating to the economy. Just saying! (Hurry on over and do it for America, Newt. Hock fast at Tiffany's.)

Perry was a big Gore for prez supporter.
Ergo he was an enthusiastic supporter of big government liberal democrat crapola.
You can’t lie and say he was always a conservative. No real conservative supported ultra-lib Gore.

Jim recently posted an article about Newt’s record which clears up many of the accusations about him being conservative..as well as what he accomplished for us......there is no grief over Newt’s past mis-steps....he’s clean in that respect...time to move forward as his family, supporters and the general public has.

Maybe Newt should have said oops(admitting a mistake within a few minutes)more often considering the mistakes he has made.
To: mylife
I like listening to crazy uncle Ron ;-) He reminds me of why I like the libertarian philosophy so much, and why it’s so important to maintain a sense of balance and common sense in all things.

Absolutely. In addition I liked what Bachman had to say about states rights and what the states should do and the feds not do.
But, Newt is heads and shoulders above all else.
He has the ability to explain everything he says at a level where everyone is aboard.THats hard to do unless you have extensive communications skills and intelligence that he obviously has.

You cant lie and say he was always a conservative. No real conservative supported ultra-lib Gore. You have to remember who Gore was running against in the Primary.
To: native texan
Yes, of course it matters. I’d have no problem supporting him if he got the nod.
I would only point out, though, to any Perry supporters who question Newt’s bona fides, that Georgia was every bit as solidly Democrat in the 70’s and 80’s as was Texas......yet Newt still ran as a Republican from day one.
