I’d like to know when’s the last time a pres. took a 17 day vacation?

The evil media will say that Bush took 30 days straight every August. I hate them (media).

Actually, those long August stays by Bush at his ranch (like Reagan’s vacations at his ranch in CA) were referred to as trips to the “Summer White House.” Bush continued to hold meetings with Cabinet members and the press and even meet with foreign dignitaries, but it was simply that he did it outside of DC for 30 days. Naturally, there was also a bit of the horseback riding and woodcutting and attempts to do something non-DC like, but in general, Bush and Reagan still continued to work on state business.

I think Carter used to go back to Plains for awhile every year. Clinton, IIRC, used to go to Camp David for extended stays, although I don’t remember that he had a place in Arkansas or ever went back to his home state for very long.

To my knowledge, the only president who has gone for what are flat-out extended vacations at expensive rented places that are not even in his home state is one Barry Obama.

If he went back to his mansion in Chicago for a couple of weeks, that would be fine. But this jet-set lifestyle is pretty unbecoming for a US president.

The only upside is that he’s usually too busy having fun to issue any executive orders.
