Cain to End Candidacy Tomorrow? (Major Announcement tomorrow.)
Big Government ^

Posted on 12/02/2011 11:35:32 AM PST by sunmars

Embattled presidential candidate Herman Cain is inviting his top supporters and donors to Atlanta on Saturday for a meeting in which he will give them advance word of whether he intends to continue his campaign, sources close to the campaign said Friday.

One supporter who has been summoned to the private session said he believes that Cain is likely to announce he is ending his candidacy.

Another who has been invited to the morning meeting says attendees have been told he has made no decision, but wanted to meet with some of the supporters to express his gratitude.

Several sources indicated that Cain is likely to announce his plans publicly at a news conference after the meeting. Cain had already scheduled an event on Saturday — the grand opening of his national headquarters in his hometown of Atlanta, as well as the announcement of his campaign’s freshly minted senior leadership team for the state of Georgia.

Herman Cain isn’t having an affair now (at least, not that we know of). I guess I don’t follow your reasoning.

Society may consider the passage of time to be a mitigating factor. God doesn’t, though, and that counts for something at least to me.

As regards the ‘passage of time’, Newt used to be a solid conservative. Now, it’s been well documented that we shouldn’t be so sure. What he has done LATELY is what disqualifies him for my vote.

Sort of like he’s not behaving like a liberal NOW.

Perry had his moment, and he flubbed it, not once but several times. Of the 3 that the Tea Party Glommed to, he was the one who was worth a look, but unfortunately that look exposed some shortcomings.

Could Perry somehow manage a comeback? I suppose, but I doubt it. You can get over 1 mistake, but he absolutely fell apart in the debates, and not once but several times... if he can’t handle the republican debates, how’s he going to fair during the big show?

He just doesn’t have it, at least not this time around.

I heard somewhere else (don’t remember where) that Gloria Cain’s group “Women for Cain” is being funded by the Koch brothers. Anyone know more about this??

You are being obtuse because you are obviously itching for a Cain V Newt debate to make yourself feel good. I like both, so you came to the wrong place.

If you don’t understand my reasoning, it is willfull misunderstanding on your part and I can’t help you there. You are losing time perspective and mixing issues of Biblical forgiveness and earthly governance - and you’re even getting the Biblical forgiveness thing wrong by itself.

Debate yourself. Its a fair fight.

The MSM is holding back on Newt for some reason. For now, anyways.

I asked you a legitimate question, sir. I don’t follow your reasoning. Perhaps you’ll choose to explain it to me. Perhaps you won’t. It doesn’t matter to me. Taunts, however, will not help in any event. They demean you.

I frankly don’t have anyone to support at the moment. I liked Cain but am disappointed enough in his response to his recent issues that I don’t really have a candidate at the moment. I could care less about seeing him debate Newt. I just want a conservative candidate to support and it ain’t Newt Gingrich.

By the way, there is no mixing of Biblical forgiveness issues with me. God says what God says. Thankfully we’ve got a Savior who died to wipe all sin away, but my Bible doesn’t say God hates certain types of sin less because they happened sooner rather than later.

Boggles the mind doesn’t it?

Maybe he isn’t dropping out at all, but the mere suggestion will get him major media coverage?

This is similar to Sarah Palin being destroyed. I wonder how much this female from Hot Lanta got paid by Obamaa taxpayer union dollars to do this to “her friend”.

On the assumption you really do want a legit answer: the difference is this, as far as we know, Newt has no issues with other women while he’s been married to his current wife and that includes up until weeks ago. Cain’s issue with Ginger, whatever it was, does involve a behind the back issue with his current wife and lasted up until just a few months ago. And the coverage of it is up to the very second. If you can’t see a difference there, I cannot help you.

As for the Biblical forgiveness, God used David mightily AFTER BATHSHEEBA incident. He used Paul after a lifetime of persecuting Christians. And Newt’s marital sin was NOT AGAINST YOU and the person who was grieved by it has apparently forgiven him.

In other words, I like them both and I am not pitting one against the other. Your reasoning however is flawed three ways from Sunday IMO.

Use words like “plantation”, “runaway slave”, “upitty n*99*r” and the like.

Correction. "n*999*r"

No, my solution is not to pick a candidate offering little cause for attachment.

My advice is to explore a little more in depth than to just hop on a campaign and then find yourself depressed when you find he/she isn’t perfect or is hiding a serious objection to your support, i.e. a philanderer, a Mormon, a former Democrat, and etc.

I donated to the Cain campaign a total of $75 in three separate donations. Am I mad. No. Am I disappointed? Certainly. But the drama queeniness on this website has to end. Whatever happened to logic? I’m not saying that pragmatism has to take first seat but come-on folks, all men fail to meet the standard that God has given. ALL MEN.
Yes, they may be professing Christians, these politicians, but they ARE politicians or wannabees in the case of Cain, and they practice a lifestyle that is pragmatic to gain the greatest number of repeat voters and wool-gather their political power.

That someone would get so attached to a politician tells me that they really have suspended reality for what end?

Your and my idea of the best candidate are probably not the same if you discount the effectiveness of Gngrich. I’m old enough to remember the 80’s in great detail and I watched Gingrich LEAD us to a victory so astounding that it left the media blubbering (for awhile). And every victory must be tempered knowing that in the dust your enemies lie in wait. Gingrich’s enemies were not only defeated Liberals but some within the Republican Party. That Newt might be his own worst enemy and a long-time Washington insider in my book doesn’t necessarily subtract from his ability to lead. It probably enhances it.

Only God can grant forgiveness for sin. But that doesn’t mean that we have to pummel him for his mistakes any more than we have to beat ourselves up for our own misbehaviors.

I have heard Gingrich say that his perspectives have changed as facts change. I have read that Romney’s perspectives have changed with each new electoral opportunity and that may be true. I have no doubt that Gingrich loves this country. Milquestoast we don’t need. If you want milquetoast by all means go with Huntsman, Romney, and the others. If you want failed campaigns, go with Bachman, Perry, what’s that guy’s name from Pennsylvania? or that crank from Texas.

And finally, but sadly. Cain is unelectable. He is toast.

And there I said it. I’m a pragmatist.

IF he did something wrong..it’s gonna come out. I thought it was the “Christian way” to not give false witness and to be fair.

That's how you know the true Christians.

Matthew 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

Visualize Cain being approached by Our Heavenly Father and being presented with a choice. Cain can choose to financially help a needy woman, but gossip mongers are going to point and talk about him, OR Cain can cling tightly to his money and remain in good standing amongst his peers.

Ezekiel 16
48 As I live, saith the Lord YHWH, Sodom thy sister hath not done, she nor her daughters, as thou hast done, thou and thy daughters.
49 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom: pride, fulness of bread, and careless ease was in her and in her daughters; neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.

Which choice do you think Minister Cain would take?

I’m concerned that Newt might have new bimbos waiting to erupt that we aren’t aware of yet.

LOL! Helmet-hair Callista knows she married a hound dog, and she keeps a very short leash. The platinum blonde is always the first one rushing to the stage following every debate. Doesn't doesn't let Newt out of her sight on the campaign trail.

Honestly, Callista Gingrich as FLOTUS is a scarier thought than Newt as POTUS. Ewwww.

“I actually don’t care much about Cain’s sex life,or anyone else’s for that matter. I can get past that,if the person who wants to lead my country cares about the job, wants to keep us free, prosperous and safe, and respects the Constitution.”

What a person is in his private life,he will also be in his public life. Character is character 24/7.

PS I think all of this has been a woven web of lies to get Mr. Cain out.

I think, he should endorse people like Santorum.

I see nothing wrong with Santorum,either-only that he's not "loud & proud" enough. He's got some good ideas and he's a good guy.He and/or Bachmann should view this recent development with Cain as an opportunity to reestablish themselves as serious contenders.I mean,do these guys wanna run or not?? Speak up now-loudly-or forever hold your peace.Let us know you're still in it to win it.

We don’t know amounts, but if Cain has 5 million and gave $500, that would be like somebody who earns $50,000 a year not telling his wife about a $5 donation. Shall we look at everybody’s checkbook and see whether they told their spouse about every $5 they gave to somebody in need? Ideally, yeah maybe. In reality? I’m not sure that’s how busy millionaires spend their time with their spouse - telling about every $5 they gave.

I give money three or four times a year and my wife doesn't know about. In fact some times I'm sending messages to the recipient of this money at three or four in the morning and my wife has no idea that I'm doing it.

The recipient of this money and my over night messaging is of course...FR.

Thank you for taking me at face value and for your explanation. I do understand your reasoning better after re-reading it and I appreciate that.

Please allow me to expand on my premise. This isn’t my reasoning: it’s Scripture’s. Yes, God used people who persecuted His people throughout Scripture. That is but one measure of the redeeming power of God.

However, it doesn’t change the fact that God hates all sin, including mine, in equal measure and sent Christ to redeem all sin in equal measure, even of those Biblical heroes you mentioned. Were all sin not equal, Christ could not have fulfilled his mission (Hebrews 10:10).

Cain, if indeed he did sin in the flesh, and Gingrich, who has admitted to it, surely need answer to no one in the end but God, who is under no compunction to draw a statute of limitations. If they are saved, it will be much easier on them both. But to say that God will judge one type of sin more harshly than another because it happened sooner and earthly forgiveness was obtained is, in my opinion, poor theology.

I never claimed Cain or Gingrich sinned against me, though I am called as a Christian to gently correct a sinner and he to correct me (Galatians 6:1). They have both disappointed me, though, which is a pity since they are both asking for my vote.

Thank you for the conversation.
