Glenn Beck Smears Ron Paul With Half-Truths About Paul's Earmarks.
Today on his radio show Glenn Beck and his staff declared that Ron Paul is the "earmark king", and labeled Paul a hypocrit. Beck correctly stated that Paul adds many earmarks to spending bills, and then votes against the spending bills. What Beck left out (either by deceit or by ignorance) is that earmarks do not increase the size of a budget. The money allocated for a budget is set by the Appropriations Committee prior to any allocation or earmark. All money not allocated or earmarked is not deleted from the budget, but rather is turned over the the executive branch to spend as it sees fit.
According to Wikipedia [re. Earmark], "Scott Frisch and Sean Kelly point out that directing money to particular purposes is a core constitutional function of Congress. If Congress does not make a specific allocation, the task falls to the executive branch; there is no guarantee that the allocation made by executive agencies will be superior to Congress's. Presidents and executive officials can use the allocation of spending to reward friends and punish enemies." They also warned the "Tea Party's Anti-Earmark Crusade Gives More Power to President Obama".
Those are important points. Unallocated money has no transparency, and therefore can be used by the President to reward friends and punish enemies, without public scrutiny. Therefore, by earmarking as much as he can, Ron Paul is increasing the transparency of government spending. Until the Congress passes a law that requires all unallocated money to be deleted from the budget and returned to the Treasury, Congressman Paul is doing all he can do to increase the transparency of federal expenditures.
Glenn Beck is constantly preaching to us about the importance of (honorable) character. Maybe Beck should practice what he preaches.
>>>You really are a delusional Paul-tard! <<<
How so, Obamatard?
>>>You post that Beck is lying...then when the point is proven<<<
Have you bothered to read my original post? I don’t think so. If you did you would know that Beck lied by omission.
Okay, maybe I am giving you too much credit for being intelligent. My apologies.
That is probably me spitting my coffee all over my keyboard from reading the last few pots on this thread. You guys should take this show on the road.
I was sort of wondering what CONSTITUTIONAL PRINCIPLES your buddy is talking about...ours, or Article 48 of the constitution of the Weimar Republic of Germany...
posts
He’s not my buddy, I can assure you.
I have no idea what he’s blithering about.
>>>Paul DOES add numerous earmarks to Bills and then votes against those bills.<<<
Right. Paul should have allowed Bush and Obama to get that money to spend it in any way they deem necessary for their political survival.
You are brilliant.
He don’t either.
Hey phil! Which sect of Judaism do you claim for yourself, dude? De-form?
LMAO!
RonPaul was one of the five Republicans to vote to repeal DADT. He specifically thinks faggots have the right to be in the military. I posted an article quoting him supporting faggots in the military on FR on a thread yesterday.
That alone makes him unacceptable; of course there are a host of other reasons; his 9/11 trooferism, his abortion being a states’ rights issue, and his love affair with weirdos like Code Pinkos and Cynthia McKinney and numerous other over the edge into the abyss type people.
Paul followers - Ronulans.
Hey, that ain’t bad.
Hey, that ain’t bad!
Thanks for the Haase and Barry music links. OUTSTANDING!
Beck is very wrong on this, and is the real hypocrite, because he ignores the structure of the system and the fact that most of Paul’s earmarks cause the funds to go to better purpose than they otherwise would.
Paul is one of very few congressmen that has worked to end all earmarks. That means nothing to Beck.
Paul is not suited to the presidency, but he is tops in congress.
>> “Simply stated, earmarks are the currency of corruption on Capitol Hill.” <<
.
No, really that is not true.
The currency of corruption is the entitlements; the earmarks amount to less than one thousandth of the total budget, and most voters aren’t even aware of the earmark expenditures.
>> “Paul IS the earmark king of congress, it is a fact, it is a given.” <<
You’re dwelling in ignorance.
The saga of Ron Paul and earmarks goes back to the ‘80s. From his first days in congress he has been the most avid fighter against allowing earmarks in the house. Calling hin the earmark king is a tougue-in-cheek joke, because he is constantly attempting to insert language into bills to block all earmarks.
Beck is well aware of this and that is why he is a huge hypocrite and a liar.
Peter schiff exposed beck and gold line a long time ago.
LOL. I had to see what you were talking about there. There is usually a good shot to see those types of posts from me on a late Friday or Saturday night when the single malt kicks in.
Looks like I was in a John Barry type of mood. That explains why I had James Bond themes running through my head all day Sunday.
Sorry honey but he was given that title by congress. Paul does a great dance, he puts in his earmarks when he knows a bill is going to pass then votes against the bill.
I do not know whether Beck has ever said Paul is an earmark king, I do not listen to Beck. I know that Paul is because of other sources.
What I do know without a doubt is that many Paul supporters have know idea who he really is, a;; they know is who they think/what he is.
It is as I stated, the handle was given in jest because he is known for his vendetta against earmarks.
Trying to whitewash Beck is a waste of time.
