It would certainly be a betrayal, if she in fact thought of herself as a friend of Cain. I’m sure she didn’t think of herself that way though. She was seeking to do the most amount of harm to him she could.
If you had David Axelrod organizing the campaign against Cain, I am sure David could get whatever he needed.

I have to wonder what drove this so-called “good friend” of Herman Cain’s to knowingly try to ruin his chances, just when he had beaten back the vicious lies from the Allred skank and the others?
It’s become obvious that he helped this one financially, so why would she come out and claim an affair, which of course was timed to lead the Eastern 6PM News?
Why didn’t she first alert her “good friend?”
Why did she claim an affair?

I agree. All the current candidates should make a public statement that they are not interested in this type of shenanigans, and that they will reserve their judgment for when everything is known.
You can’t prove a negative. Cain is defenseless here.
I don’t defend impropriety on my candidate’s part, but I am not convinced Cain has done anything wrong.
The Left is desperate to destroy him. They cannot afford to have a Conservative Black man stand up against the Communist/Socialist/Marxist/Fascist/Muslim lovin’ Obama.

Just to provide a contrarian position (because at this point I have no reason to believe Cain actually had an affair)....
Cain has acknowledged that he knew her, and considered her a friend.
Cain also was known in the parts this woman lived, he was a radio talk show host, was a Senate candidate in 2004.
But according to this woman, White never mentioned she knew Cain. Why? If they were friends, why wouldn’t White have said sometime “hey, you know that guy running for Senate in Georgia? He’s a friend of mine.”
ONE explanation for why she wouldn’t mention him is that she didn’t actually know him. But Cain has already said they knew each other, so that can’t be why.
ANOTHER explanation for why she wouldn’t mention him is that she knew Cain was keeping their relationship a secret, and she was also doing so. But if they were just friends, why would she keep the friendship a secret? This would be a reason to believe her story, if you were looking for a reason — she kept their relationship a secret even from her business partner, which is less consistant with the relationship being pure and above-board.
Like I said, I believe Cain when he says he didn’t have an affair with her, so I’m not looking for a reason to believe her. But this story certainly doesn’t help show that she is a liar (at least the part about her not telling her partner).
Sting or setup?
Libel allegations are fairly common in business disputes, where one party claims another disparaged him/her.
I know people on the forum desperately want to believe Cain and regard all his accusers and nuts and sluts. I don't feel I have enough publicly available information to decide who's right.
It does seem odd that a woman who Cain says he's given money to would lie about this because making the allegation cuts off any more of it.
This is why I'm skeptical of any candidate for President who has never won elective office. They just haven't been fully vetted and tested.
Maybe Cain comes through this, but I'm afraid there has been too much damage.
They had talked or texted as late as September, so apparently, he thought they were still friends.
So far there’s no evidence that he has been romancing white women.
Whatever you want to call it.
Vay won! This is the most glaring of weaknesses in White's story. White lied about someone's character and actions before, why not now?
Definitely something wrong there.
Maybe Cain has a thing for unstable, dishonest, and financially-desperate women? That’s the only explanation for this pattern other than that this is a political lynching.
