A new poll shows former House Speaker Newt Gingrich ahead of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney by seven percentage points in Iowa, a state that holds the nation's first presidential contest.

According to a survey by the American Research Group, Gingrich tops the poll with 27% of support among likely Republican caucus goers, with Romney following behind at 20%.

When push comes to shove you will be crawling through a hail storm to pull the lever for Newt and so will almost everyone else in America. The public has recovered from a bad case of Jungle fever. They want a good looking or average looking white man as the next President. They want things back to normal.

“But, I’m thinking Newt’s telling the money people in the Establishment to get on board because he’s more viable than Romney.”

That is very possible. However, I would like to think that he was just being honest and had no strategy. Even if I don’t like a particular “policy”, I can respect honesty so you know what you are getting.

I knew when I decided to vote for Newt, that it meant there were going to be things I disagree with him on. However, it is a degree of disagreement I can, I think, live with.

I’m actually not too optimistic about the election. I’m afraid Romney is going to win the primary...folks like me will leave the ballot blank before voting for him. Obama wins. However, with vehement disagreement with Mike Huckabee, Romney is no better in the long run than 4 more years of the Kenyan.

If one was intellectually honest Newt did not shoot himself in the foot on immigration

Exactly right.

He treast the American people as if they weren't ignoramuses.

The other candidates play the sound bite, sound good card...but I notice not ONE of them had given a plan of just how they would deport 12 million people.they know it can't/won't be done.

And already, the left is climbing aboard with 'you can't let someone STAY just because they've provided for and raised a a family for a quarter of a century, not been in trouble with the law, is church going - over anyone else. they should all be treated 'equally." PUKE.

Right. Let's treat the ones that didn't bleed the system and/or have a record, his family all on welfare, etc, the same as the hypothetical guy Newt spoke of.

Newt is thinking "free Capitalist Society" and they are demanding Socialist rules.

Newt has also said, over and over (and Bachman knows this - she is starting to hiss) that FIRST and foremost: Close the Border. He says make sure laws re employment are enforced. He says if you're a recent 'cross over' you're going home...if you've committed crimes, you're going home, etc.

If we even had an honest moderator, when the others, playing to the people, say they'd deport them all - ask them how they would accomplish that.

It may be that the only error in Newt's judgement is that he trusts that there's enough of the American people left that have a brain.

Sounds like you could use a chill pill - and/or a common sense/honesty pill.

Pretty sad.

Hint: Not everyone gets through life spotless as you seem to be -

What is that saying: “A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad memory.

I am convinced that people pushing a third party are stealth operatives of the left (trolls if you will). EVERYONE knows a 3rd party would insure perpetual socialist victories from here to eternity.

Spot on. The stench of trolls has been strong of late. Where are our Viking Kitties?

After all, it's how bubba got his second term with only 43% of the vote. Perot shilled for him,

So why wouldn't they try to get us to do it again? especially if they're getting ready to dump the little messiah and put hitlery up.

Oh he has a plan. He sits and waits to pounce on every thread that mentions NEWT.

Doesn’t offer who’s better and why.

Maybe a shill for one who is banned from FR...but not a lot to offer, especially in the reason department. You waste good time and energy giving him any attention.

He’s one we should all put on ‘ignore’ list.

FIRST OF - we have to remember the insanity of the current debate formula. Listen to the link at the bottom and THINK, next time you watch the left’s controlled debates.

In the meantime, here’s Newt’s immigration stand. SAVE this to repost from here on out and email to everyone.

at this link, the first ‘solution’ Newt has listed is “Immigration” (It’s the same stance he’s had for years -)

http://www.newt.org/solutions

Excerpt:
“SOLUTIONS

1. Control the border.

The United States must control its border. It is a national security imperative.

Every nation has the right to control its border. Historically, every country that has been determined to control their border has been able to do so.

Controlling the border is a matter of resources and will.
...[that’s his first step - CONTROL THE BORDER...and he has the plan to do it, it isn’t just words.]
Solutions con’t -
“...If necessary, we would move one-half of the 23,000 Washington-area Department of Homeland Security bureaucrats to the Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona borders.

A border control strategy must be responsive to the unique threats that exist at different parts of the frontier. This strategy must include round-the-clock drone flights to monitor activity, multi-layer, strategic fencing in urban areas, and vastly improved communication between state and federal authorities.”

Newt deals in realities, not sound bites. Noe asks the others - “Well, good. How do you plan to implement it?”

CONTROL THE BORDER is his step #1:

Newt’s debate with Cain was an overwhelming success.

People need to understand the nature of their dog & pony debates - You do not have time to outline your plan in 30-60 seconds - it gets cut in half - deliberately, most time - and everyone runs with the half truth, EVEN FR’s who SUPPORT him! WE cannot be uninformed in this election.

Here’s Newt in 2007,speaking at the National Press Club, on the subject of these skewed debates. (Might I suggest everyone save Newt’s sight and become conversant with his stand on the issue.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j77M368fMOU&NR=1

Newt speaking abut immigration at the American Enterprise Institute in 2006 - in case anyone is going to waste time telling me he’s changed his position.

What I find actually really sad is that the current group of so called republican, conservative, moderates of this party are such bums. I find it hard to even consider most of them. Most are just in it for the power and position. Most do not really care about the people. Just about what is in it for them. I have about come to the opinion that you really cannot tell one from the other in all the parties. You need a game program with numbers to see who is who because they all wear the same thing. In the long run, I think the country is screwed. I don't think anyone currently in politics can fix the problems this nation faces. No matter of tax cuts, etc., savings, is going to right this ship. We all agree that a lot of cuts need to be done, but when a country has made a population of old folks that depend on SS for a living, how do you put them further in the hole? I know many old folks that believed the government lie 50-60 years ago, thinking they would be taken care of under SS and Medicare and now are barely making it. If we cut them, they do not survive. I am just saying that I don't see a way out of this mess and I don't see any politician or party in this nation that can begin to fix it.

It is so typical ... I bet you were one of those Bushbots who were attacking folks like me when we were warning about Bush running around with a sombrerro and hanging out with the prez of Mexico instead of our warnings about Usama Binladen (that's how his name was spelled then) coming back after the initial bombing of the Trade Center for a second try and then 911 happened ("who would have thought they would use planes?" said Condie? .. answer - lots) .. Are you an example of a typical Newt supporter? If so, just another reason why he's now going to lose the nomination, and with friends of Newt like you I bet he wishes you weren't because you're the type he doesn't need on his team.

Vote for whoever you like, I can tell you right now he lost his chance when the votes come home now because of last night. And if the members of the Republican Party DO nominate Romney, what are insulting peons like you going to do about it? Commit suicide?

BTW - Newt has several times, on Afghanistan, mentioned the first thing that needs to be done is to change the ROE (Rules of Engagement.) NO ONE questions him on that, I suspicion, because none of them - moderators or candidates even know what Rules Of Engagement means, let alone the new ROE obummer put in right after he took office that have given the advantage in the field to the Taliban - from letting them have first shot, to often denying or delaying - with deadly consequences - air cover to troops pinned down.

These new ROE have resulted in over 63 % of our KIA’s in the 10 yrs of war, being just under obummer’s regime.
In the first year, 2009, of the new ROE, DOUBLE the number of our troops were killed than in the previous worst year. In 2010, it TRIPLED. This year’s not done yet. (chart below)

crickets. silence from the media who used to show a tally every day. Silence from the American people who don’t do their homework. The information is on the Internet.

Newt knows our troops cannot win with one hand tied behind their back - they aren’t, in many cases, even allowed to have their weapons loaded in camp!.

Forget “Heart and Minds” - let the soldiers FIGHT. Let them defend themselves. Give them the troops and equipment they need to get the job done. Newt understands this.

BTW - how many of you know that in the spring of 2010, obummer gifted the Taliban with the strategic valleys in the Kunar - just had our troops pulled out and left caches of weapons that the Taliban crowed over and vowed to use to kill our soldiers - and they did. Our soldiers, in those valleys, were keeping the Tallies from easy access down to Kabul by using the mountain passes from Pakistan through the Kunar Province and down to Kabul. Anyone ever wonder why the uptick of fighting and bombs in Kabul. crickets.

chart showing KIA per year - what changed that increased the numbers so dramatically once obummer took office? the deadly ROE that favors the Taliban. and none dare call it treason. crickets

http://www.icasualties.org/OEF/index.aspx

Newt knows the first thing to do is change the ROE. Let our soldiers defend themselves, give them air power when needed, give them the men they need and get the job DONE
Democrats do not have the guts to kill the enemy - so OUR troops die. This regime had the blood of many of our soldiers on their hands.

Your effort to mischaracterize me notwithstanding, I will continue to post the videos of Newt's own words on the issues under discussion. I will also continue to refrain from trashing the other candidates, except Rominy, Huntsman, and now desperate Bachmann.

That I won't shut up and go away must frost your smarmy butt. ;^) Have Nice Day

Time for a 3rd party in America if Gringo or Mittens win.
______________________________________________________________

And who the hell would be the nominee for that Third Party? We Conservatives fight so much among ourselves we wouldn’t be able to agree on a friggin’ candidate. We can’t agree on one now. So, tell me, who would be the nominee of your Third Party bigdirty? Oh, I know; the Third Party could nominate a Conservative Black woman with a Hispanic surname who is of the Jewish faith, but is married to a Georgia Redneck NASCAR fan and her son is a born-again Baptist Christian and her daughter is a Lesbian attorney working for the ACLU and lives with her Asian lover. That’s a winning Third Party ticket; hell yeah.

if Romney is the nominee I will pray that Sarah runs on third party ticket ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ How's that going to happen? See my Post #55. What Major Third Party at present would let her just walk up and claim the nomination of their party? Or, is she just gonna wake up one morning and say: "OK, I'm forming the Conservative Party of America and I'm the nominee." And then, come up with about $500 million to finance her own campaign? There sure could never me a nominating process for her to go through. Conservatives who are pi**ed off because she resigned her Governor's seat early, or pi**ed off because she didn't run in the GOP Primary, or pi**ed off because campaigned for Rick Perry in his Governor's race in 2010, or for a gazillion other reasons would destroy her like they have every GOP candidate so far, this election cycle, except Rick Santorum. Let's get real. There will be no Conservative Party nominee. Hell, Conservatives this year couldn't organize the lunch line for an Elementary School Second Grade Class. Get friggin' real; will ya?

Mischaracterize you? You put up postings calling others "trolls" and such crap, that is you're M.O... You give Newt a bad name, and I will repeat, I will bet you anything he doesn't want your type on his team because it is your type that drive away others who were thinking of backing Gingrich ... I donated money to Newt, but now that he made his position obvious on illegal immigration, I am joining the others who cannot support him, no way.

He's off my list, just as I dropped Perry when he made his stupid remark on In-state tuition for illegals (and that IS one difference between Newt and Perry, Newt IS smart, and sorry but Perry isn't) ...

You're going to see your candidate drop in the polls, and lose what was a good chance on the nomination. That is the truth, and it is among ALL Republicans who decide who will be the nominee.

You vote for whoever you damn want, but don't go around insulting long time conservatives such as myself who have been involved directly involved in political campaigns since Reagan. You want Newt? Then go ahead and vote for him. I will vote for who I choose, be it Romney, Cain or now Bachmann... Let's see in the end who Republicans decide - but please stop your childish slurs against those who do not agree with you, your idiotic conspiracy theories and so lame.
