Gingrich May Have Inside Track on Palin's Endorsement
Real Clear Politics ^ | 2011-11-23 | Scott Conroy

Almost immediately upon Sarah Palin's announcement that she would not seek the Republican nomination for president, the phone calls from almost all of the GOP candidates began pouring in. They wanted her endorsement.

While Palin has characteristically kept her cards close to her chest, advisers suggest that the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee is likely to endorse before someone emerges as the inevitable nominee -- and that Newt Gingrich appears to be best-positioned to secure her support.

"They speak very favorably of Newt and what they see as his credentials as compared to Perry and Romney," one member of Palin's inner circle said of the former Alaska governor and her husband, Todd, who has long served as her unofficial chief adviser.

Gingrich has been particularly effusive in expressing his admiration for Palin over the last few months, and she has returned the favor by heaping praise on the former House speaker.

"Newt Gingrich again, I think, did the best because he seems to be above a lot of the bickering that goes on," Palin said on Fox News after a Republican debate in Las Vegas last month, adding that Gingrich would “clobber” President Obama in a general election debate.

The GOP will be repeating the 2008 election; and whoever the RATs put up (including Obama) will take the election unless some serious changes are made and a real electable constitutional conservative candidate comes forward.

So you seriously think if a MORE conservative candidate ran he would have beaten Obama in 2008?

Can you just explain the math there?

What a loss that Palin isn't running. Honestly; this thing would be over by now if she was running

If Palin had run I suspect she'd be about where Cain is in the polls at the moment, Romney the same, with vastly less support for Gingrich. Bachmann never would have had her spike.

Far from "over."

“Me to. If she gets behind Newt I’m done with her.”

Really?
I just love some of the posters here on FR who dislike this or that about each and every one of the Republican candidates. Seemingly, none of them is good enough in all respects to earn your respect and your vote. If the country has to rely on the likes of you, we’re dead as a country. Perhaps you might consider becoming and adult and after you make your decision and cast your vote in the Primary, and your person doesn’t win, you finally come to the realization that any of these people would be light years better than FUBO even if the person selected by the majority doesn’t please you in every respect. To suggest that if your preferred choice doesn’t make it that you are “done with whomever” is just nuts! You may as well go tell Obama to start planning for his second inauguration and probably the end of this once proud country. Now, ready, start throwing your rocks!

politically, if she is looking for a future in politics, its not good to upset one candidate over another when she will need them as allies

If she didn't run this year she's NEVER running for President; rest assured on that.

Actually as each candidate drops out and endorses Romney or endorses another candidate who then endorses Romney, supporters of all the other candidates will have to get Romneybot ZOTs,leaving membership of the board at Zero.

Exactly. If Palin supports Newt OR Romney she is toast for conservatives.

Eisenhower did it. He had millions deported.

Well I do get the whole logistical argument against deportation but I think there must be consequences for breaking the law. I propose a 3 step plan:

1) close the border hard - (yes we must allow access to the rio for water but that is hardly 100% of the border)

2) Provisions for non green card alien ids. Anyone caught employing wo the Id after a 6 month grace is subject to a fine equal to one years salary for the employed.

3) anyone thAt holds these ids is not allowed to protections of ss, welfare, unemployment, or medi whatever To obtain Id you must pay a one time fine or x weeks in prison. Employers are also required to pay the fine. Minimum wage laws apply to all who hold these cards independent of position (that give citizens and legal green cards a leg up on stuff like waitress jobs - good for high schoolers). To transition to a real green card is double normal application fees and end of line status to all other applicants. Oh any felonies on record void chance to obtain the transition card and still result in deportation.

It’s not perfect but it has to start with closing the border sieve. I can dream anyway.

I don’t know what any of them look like. All I know is Palin got McCain reelected in Arizona. There is no excuse for that.

I noticed the same thing...what the hell was with the hair?

The other thing is that she DESPISES Newt. For her to say he won...he must have REALLY won.

Huh? Your plan sounds more lenient than Newt’s and everyone here is trashing him as an open-borders RINO???

I think she better wait until after a few more debates, and find out who’s for amnesty, and who is not. Sounds like Newt is pro-amnesty for long-term illegals.

Hmm I was under the impression newt was more along the lines of the Reagan plan - I was looking for something 1/2 way between Reagan and Eisenhower. But nothing else will matter if the border isn’t controlled first.

For Palin to endorse newt, a king of cronyism, and a life long politician, would be the height of hypocrisy. I do not think she will make that kind of mistake. I am sure along with the health mandate, newt is all in for calling the sick over seventy, except for the ruling class, units. Turn the life support off on the units, save money, that would be newts position, it is in the commerce clause. Sick
