Gingrich May Have Inside Track on Palin's Endorsement

Almost immediately upon Sarah Palin's announcement that she would not seek the Republican nomination for president, the phone calls from almost all of the GOP candidates began pouring in. They wanted her endorsement.

While Palin has characteristically kept her cards close to her chest, advisers suggest that the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee is likely to endorse before someone emerges as the inevitable nominee -- and that Newt Gingrich appears to be best-positioned to secure her support.

"They speak very favorably of Newt and what they see as his credentials as compared to Perry and Romney," one member of Palin's inner circle said of the former Alaska governor and her husband, Todd, who has long served as her unofficial chief adviser.

Gingrich has been particularly effusive in expressing his admiration for Palin over the last few months, and she has returned the favor by heaping praise on the former House speaker.

"Newt Gingrich again, I think, did the best because he seems to be above a lot of the bickering that goes on," Palin said on Fox News after a Republican debate in Las Vegas last month, adding that Gingrich would “clobber” President Obama in a general election debate.

At this point it seems down to Romney or Gingrich with Perry maybe having an outside shot.
Cain is not going to happen...he can’t answer simple questions on foreign policy.

I don’t think it would be a bad move to endorse Gingrich over Romney...not that I’m particularly fond of either of them.

But, the fact that she went out of her way to name one person she endorsed ...

I don’t agree. Republican women like Sarah just as she is. She is smart and good looking.

Did’nt Palin endorse McLame for senator in 2010?
That was my turn off. McLame’s opponent was a much better conservative primary candidate.

I realize there are a bunch of open borders Republicans-some of whom I know-who are on Twitter praising Gingrich for tonight’s performance, but his stance on immigration is political cyanide in any Republican primary.

Re: Sarah’s endorsement of Rick Perry for Texas Gov...

I’m not sure Sarah’s endorsement was that important in the scheme of things as most Texans felt Kay Bailey Hutchison wasn’t a compelling enough reason to change govs. She’d been silent in DC and campaigned little in Texas and added nothing politically to Texas than what we already had.

The interesting thing is that all the CNN contributors (including Dana Loesch) declared Gingrich the winner.

Dana is normally a very attractive woman, but with her hairstyle tonight she looked like Eddie Munster.

Well hold your horses! Sarah just said on Hanniy the other day that she had “no preferences” and that she’s not about to “endorse anyone” any time soon in this very fluid primary process. I doubt that she endorse anyone in the primary

John Bolton should have been the one asking the questions, IMO.

Him, or Frank Gaffney.

You are saying that because you DON'T look like Debbie Wasserman Schultz or Debbie Stabenow. Republican women who do resemble the Debbies typically don't like Sarah.

I may be wrong, but I suspect Donna bashes Sarah at lucianne.com as Donna Quiote.

.

Do you think they all should be deported?
There is no way that in the US we would roundup every illegal immigrant there are about 12 million of the illegal immigrants not only economically is that just an impossibility but that's not a humane way anyway to deal with the issue that we face with illegal immigration.

....To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?
I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.

No one, and that's the problem.

I'm really disappointed that Bachmann's campaign has floundered so badly.

At least if Duncan Hunter or Tancredo were on stage this subject would be getting some serious attention.

I’d like to see Palin endorse Romney just for the entertainment value of FR instantly collapsing into a dense gravitational hole from which not even light can escape.

President Gingrich will appoint Palin as Energy Department Director in charge of dismantling.

It should take several months to transfer vital duties to other agencies and to the states.

I should also add I think it would be far more productive and beneficial to the country if Palin just continued the big crusade on her pet issues of corruption/crony capitalism and energy independence... making those the forefront of her fight. Uniquely qualified on these topics, she really goes to town on them! Better to preach these issues and shake things up an ‘outsider’ than getting mired down in this whole dismal primary process, especially as none of the candidates seem particularly worthy of her endorsement. Although I do hope to see her perhaps involved in down-ticket races.
