“Im sure that you probably meant this with good intentions, but you really need to remember that almost of all America is suffering during this downturn. That means that almost everybody is going to stay home.”
I disagree.
I was once engaged to a girl who thought it was a virtue to buy something she “needed” as soon as she “needed” it.
When she ran out of real money, she’d start in on the credit cards. And, the economy wasn’t even bad at the time.
By the time we were no longer engaged, she’d single-handedly run up about $15,000 worth of debt, in just over a year and a half.
I think lots of people won’t let their kids miss “Christmas”, debt be damned.
Ah yes... Women are different! (Sorry, but that is true when it comes to spending)... As long as they feel some comfort with their status (married or comfortable single), they will spend. Not so for men. So yes, it may be a merry Black Friday for women but not so for men. I would guess the the end result will be a wash. No increase but no falter in sales results. That alone would be good for the current economy.
