Voter ID: Four or five states now have Voter ID laws. We in Texas in the Republican Party kept going to the legislature every two years trying to get our law passed. We did that for at least six years and Democrats in the legislalture kept voting it down. We finally got a majority in the Texas Senate (already had it in House), and got it passed this past session. Perry’s main involvement was signing it into law. It was hard work on the Republican Party’s side that got it passed.
The last I heard that law was in a court deciding if it was constitutional or not. I don’t know where that stands right now.
The Democrat position was it would prevent people from voting. I guess Democrats don’t carry driver’s license or Texas ID card or any other picture ID that identifies them.
Haven’t checked it, but figure person voting by mail will include a copy of picture ID when they return their ballot. However, for Democrats, it will be difficult to include a picture ID of dead people.
My Republican Chairman husband used to say Democrats put signs in grave yards to vote early.
The Feds are suing us all the time on states rights.
